I'm just drinking my first cuppa & eating breakfast, in my kitchen spot. The only noise is the fridge humming away to itself and the boiler - bliss 😊

The girls will be up shortly though. They're off Christmas shopping for me, together...could be interesting! I've given them a small list of things to pick up too but it doesn't matter if they don't get those things.

I'm going to spend the day finishing off my current set of peg people, and doing some festive baking 😋 Mince pies, stollen, and a something else but not sure what yet. I'll maybe put the marzipan on my dad's Christmas cake too.

Dd2 has maths homework she wants me to look at with her, so we'll do that when they get in. And I'll suggest to dd1 that she maybe starts her homework over this week - it's due after Christmas - so that it's out of the way & she doesn't need to think about it for 2 weeks.

There's a large-ish joint of pork in the slow cooker for tea. Not sure what we'll have with it but maybe not a roast this week. I'll see what the girls fancy.

Later on, early showers, write the few Christmas cards I want for work, and then a nice early night ready for the last week at school 💤💤

What about all of you? 🎅

DH is working and I'm currently sat under the dog while I have my coffee (he's already helped me with my toast).

Will be off out for a dog walk soon and to pick up the Christmas ice cream I've ordered from our local independent place.

Packing up the hotel room and flying back to rainy UK. We’ve had a week’s sunshine which was lovely but we’re all ready to get home now. So packing, last potter down to the beach, then a flight, then home. Back to real life tomorrow.

MissMarplesNiece · 17/12/2023 09:16

@lucysmam Your peg dolls are so lovely.

I'm full of a horrible bug that's left me with no energy so I'll have a "take it easy" Sunday. I've still got neighbour's Christmas cards to write so will do that this morning. I'll also wrap a few presents.

Good morning all. I've just finished my morning coffee and am about to go and get dressed as we have church this morning with DD's Brownies group. I'm looking forward to it as it always makes me feel really festive.

DH is taking DD2 into town to do a bit of Christmas shopping and then we'll meet up with them and go for tea and cake at a café if they're not all too busy.

Roast dinner tonight and then DH and I will watch one of the cheesy Christmas films on Netflix.

GingerLiberalFeminist · 17/12/2023 09:20

Morning!
We are lighting the advent candle at church this morning so I have been getting family organised. DH is wearing unironed trousers and I'm debating whether to tell him to change them or avoid a row and don't.

Then my MIL has organised a party for our DD (nearly 1) this afternoon so I've straightened my hair and made sure we have presents and cards for people we will see and been fielding calls for things I have to pick up.

Alongside the usual Sunday morning housework, washing and a sad baby who is on antibiotics and has a busy day ahead of her.

MeinKraft · 17/12/2023 09:27

I'm lying on the sofa. the kids are taking turns to jump on each other on the armchairs! Visiting family for lunch and then DS has a birthday party. Then home for more lying about. I'd love a full day just to lie in bed! So tired atm it's the weather.

OldTinHat · 17/12/2023 09:28

Morning!

I'm away this weekend and am just waiting for my family to arrive so we can go into the restaurant for a HUGE breakfast. Then off to the zoo, a panto and watch the show after dinner tonight.

I'm on my own for Christmas so this is like Christmas this weekend!

Have a fabulous day all.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 17/12/2023 09:34

Good morning Lucysmam and others. I've had two coffees and a pain au chocolate. The coffees were spiced ones in honour of the season but truth be told, they aren't very nice. Today I'm going to town to get the last few Christmas presents. I'll have to start wrapping and I'll visit mum later. Gammon and red cabbage for dinner. Silverstoat I'm so glad the party went well. Lucysmam I love your figures. Enjoy your day.

TiredOfYourNonsense · 17/12/2023 09:37

I was up at 7.30, fed the birds and squirrels, then looked at YouTube and Daily Express online. Had my breakfast and a coffee, put the washer on. Later, meeting one AC with their family, going out for lunch. After that, changing my bed and doing a bit of ironing.

ssd · 17/12/2023 09:40

Morning @lucysmam and everyone else here.

Am lying in bed listening to the weather, its wild out there.

Have had a cup of tea and 2 tottie scones.

ssd · 17/12/2023 09:42

You are very artistic @lucysmam

AlwaysGinPlease · 17/12/2023 09:52

Good morning @lucysmam

Sounds like a lovely day!

Currently still in bed with DH, (a very rare lie in) we have two snoring dogs on our feet. Beach or forest dog walk planned in a bit, not sure which yet. Then off to a garden centre. Hoping to nip into our favourite cafe too. Then wrapping presents and watching cheesy Christmas movies. I've got tomorrow off work so I'm planning a clean up and will get the rooms ready for our grown up children (sadly no GC yet!) coming for Christmas.

Not feeling very Christmassy to be honest but I think that's because a very loved family member passed away in the summer and it's my first ever Christmas without them.

Have a lovely day Mumsnetters, whatever you're up to 😊

Justonedayatatime11 · 17/12/2023 09:58

Morning @lucysmam. I'm still in bed. DH is downstairs making tea. We're off to the Christmas pier show this afternoon so will have to shift myself soon but no motivation. Managed to wrap all of DDs birthday and Christmas presents last night so that's one less thing for me to stress about. Fish and chips for tea after the show and then home for an earlier night than last night as I'm sure DD will have us up at the crack of dawn tomorrow to open presents!

newyorkinthefall · 17/12/2023 09:59

A rather lazy day just doing my own thing. DP is visiting his parents then plans to watch the cup final so I have the day to myself. I've cut my to do list in half as I've decided to only do what I want rather than what I feel I need to do. I'm going to finish wrapping up presents then root out last years Christmas jumper which I hope still fits, if not I'll pick up a new one later. I'm also going to collect my wedding ring (3 months to go!), have a mooch around a bookshop and treat myself to something nice in town then stop off for a hot chocolate. Fish and chips for tea tonight. Might get it from the chippy as a wee treat instead of making it.

Rainbowx90 · 17/12/2023 10:01

Rough night in our house with DD, she's currently dozing with her dad in bed.
Going for a Sunday lunch with the inlaws and back to their house to watch the football.
Hoping to fit in a bit of cleaning today too

WenttheDayWell · 17/12/2023 10:19

Visiting a stately home for Christmas lights with FH, DS and his GF and then DS and his GF head home to cook a roast while we meet some friends at their church for a carol service. I’m putting away all my craft stuff this morning after making two Christmas wreaths for friends. Also doing a little housework.

Decafflatteplease · 17/12/2023 10:48

Morning @lucysmam!

We are all shattered here it's been such a long term! We were out all day yesterday at the panto which was wonderful, so we are having a slow cosy day today

Not much planned, would quite like to do some Christmas crafts with DC we have a wreath making kit to do and some Christmas cards to make for teachers. Beautiful day here so will get on the garden to get some greenery for the wreath making and that should be a nice afternoon activity.

Lasagne for dinner just a ready made one so really easy. I may try to pop out this evening to carols by candlelight at a local church, will see how the day pans out.

Early night tonight and really want to get some reading done.

Elderflower14 · 17/12/2023 11:02

Wilf is home. We are off to my sisters. We are having what Wilf has termed "What the bloody hell is Goulash!??" for lunch! 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

Purplecatshopaholic · 17/12/2023 11:14

Morning! What I should be doing - tidying up and general housework. What I am doing - lazying back in bed after being out with my dogs! Doing some Duolingo, and catching up with friends on the iPad. I gather there’s football on later (I’m in Scotland), so I will try to avoid that and maybe do some pottering around the house. Love a good potter, me..

JenniferJupiterVenusandMars · 17/12/2023 11:24

Good (late) morning everyone!
I love your peg people @lucysmam . So pleased @Silverstoat that the party went well.
So far I have done the ironing and put it away, cleaned the kitchen, prepared everything for dinner, chicken is in the slow cooker. I have had 2 mugs of coffee and am contemplating opening a bottle of wine with dinner later.
DH has taken DDog for a walk, all’s quiet here. I’m WhatsApping DS about trees for their garden and DDIL who’s taken dgs1 to rugby.
Oh, I’ve ordered a Tunisian crochet hook…..yet another project!
Nothing is planned for the rest of the day so will do more of my crocheting- I need to get the throw finished!

IDontLikePinaColadas · 17/12/2023 11:31

I am still in bed drinking tea! Lazy I know but I’ve taken all of next week off work, so I am enjoying my first weekend of my holiday by being incredibly idle.

I do have some getting ahead on the Christmas cooking to be done, which is a job for this afternoon, but until then, I might got and get another cuppa!

Happy Sunday all!

ThisIsNotARealAvo · 17/12/2023 11:57

Just doing a bit of work for school. DH has gone to pick up DS15 and when he gets back we are going out for MIL's birthday lunch, then to a carol concert. Luckily only 3 days of term left!

familyissues12345 · 17/12/2023 11:59

Feeling sorry for myself with Covid Sad, so finishing the Christmas food online shop and later will finish online present shopping. Brain feels like cotton wool though so don't anticipate I'll do a very good job

ShipshapeShore · 17/12/2023 12:20

@Elderflower14 lovely Wilf! I hope he's doing well and you all have a lovely day with what the bloody hell is goulash!

riotlady · 17/12/2023 12:36

Hello :) let DH have a lie in this morning and had a nice chill morning with the kids. Cuddled the baby, put some dishes away, played Spyro with DD and did her reading practice. Then I left DH in charge of the baby and took DD to the christingle service at Church, where she asked me if the vicar was Jesus 😂so her religious education is clearly going medium well

Home now, about to have some potato and leek soup for lunch. This afternoon I’m taking DD to the cinema to see Home Alone as a reward for filling up her sticker chart, and tonight I’ll be watching the new season of Reacher with DH :) all in all a very pleasant day!
