Christmas Day. Dress up or dress down?

Which do you do? Do you like to put on a nice outfit and make-up or just stay in comfy clothes/PJs? I'm a casual outfit person.

In between. I don’t ever stay in comfy clothes if you mean pj’s or lounge wear. Pyjamas are strictly for sleeping. I get dressed once I’m up. But we don’t ‘dress up’ either. It’s sort of smart casual which is I guess the same as I’d wear every day, unless I was doing dirty chores or exercising. So jumper, skinny jeans, nice shirt, no make up or hair done though, just normal nice looking neat clothes.

We alternate a family gathering in the late morning so I do put on something decent for that, but as soon as I'm back home again, I change into lounge pants and a soft jumper for our dinner and the rest of the day!

Each to their own.

Smart for church in the morning. For lunch, Mum and I do Christmas dresses - the cheap swing style you get in ASDA or Tesco. Bonus points for having Disney characters on! Worn with stretchy leggings or tights.

Christmas jumper and leggings usually. I can’t sit about in pyjamas all day but would feel weird getting all dressed up to sit in my own house, if we went elsewhere I would make more of an effort.

I do my hair and have a little make up on as we take lots of pictures.

We are older now and live abroad, plus its just me & DH this year so itll be casual with Xmas jumpers.( plus one for the dog 😀)
In years gone by when the DC were young and PIL's were all with us we used to do full dress up, but have a pajama day on Boxing Day.

violamary · 16/12/2023 17:26

I'm not dressing up this year, so will be a velvet top with a skirt but teamed with fluffy slippers.

Vettrianofan · 16/12/2023 17:28

Casual. Might as well be comfy if you are going to be stuffing your face all day.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 16/12/2023 17:35

In between . A Christmas jumper with joggers or stretchy jeans. Or a Christmassy jersey dress with cosy tights or leggings. And slipper boots .

LubaLuca · 16/12/2023 17:52

I wear a comfy dress and tights, which is what I wear most days. So not exactly dressing down, but definitely not dressing up. Normal make up.

hlc123 · 16/12/2023 19:05

Jeans and Christmas jumpers here

Girasoli · 16/12/2023 19:37

A nice but warm dress or jeans and a Christmas jumper (and slippers).
I'd feel weird eating a roast in pyjamas!

Girasoli · 16/12/2023 19:42

I like the idea of pyjamas on boxing day though.

GigiAnnna · 16/12/2023 19:44

I have a bath and get dressed, do my hair and make up as normal but I wear casual clothes. I normally end up putting on my pjs after christmas dinner.

eatdrinkandbemerry · 16/12/2023 19:55

It's the first Christmas I don't have to leave the house on Christmas Day so I'm planning on staying in my pjs all day

LlynTegid · 16/12/2023 19:57

Dress sufficiently respectably enough to go to church on Christmas morning.

Jemimapuddleduk · 16/12/2023 20:05

Dress up 24th to the 27th, glitter and glamour then back to leggings and tracksuit comfies after 😂. I’m all or nothing!

ChilledToTheBone · 16/12/2023 20:13

If out to dinner soemthing like nice trousers and top.
If cooking leggings and whatever comfy top. I get far to hot and stressed cooking to be worried about what I'm wearing and inevitably i spill something on me too
