Would a hairdresser do this?

I am trying to grow my root colour out so eventually my whole head will just be my natural colour (a dark, mousey blonde).

It looks awful at the minute because my roots are dark blonde, then they go into a gingery blonde colour (previously applied balayage root colour), to a light blonde.

Would a hairdresser dye the rest of my hair to match the roots that have already grown out without dying my roots? I know it wouldn’t be a perfect match but could do with it being less blocky and noticeable while I grow out my roots. I really don’t want any dye putting on my roots I have already grown out because every time I have asked for this it’s never quite the same colour and I have to start all over again growing them out. Just can’t see a hairdresser dying all my hair other than the roots??

I don't know if it's quite the same as what you're after, but a few years ago I stopped dyeing my hair, because 1) I was moving and wouldn't be able to get mate's rates anymore, and 2) I was grey enough that it was becoming a battle to keep it dark. What my hairdresser did was partially bleach it to get a sort of ombré effect, and after that it grew out and the colour eventually disappeared as I got the ends trimmed.

Yes. When I was growing out a bleach, the hairdresser dyed the rest of my hair to match the roots.

My natural hair colour is bright ginger but I currently have a black root with blonde highlights. I do not like the black but a light brown dye doesn’t cover the ginger and a medium brown turns it black and this is with going to 2 different hairdressers. I really want a light brown root or dark blonde, can anyone give advice on what to use that will cover the ginger without going so dark? Thanks
