So I’m in a country house with my extended family

We’ve hired a house for a “fake” Christmas because we can’t be together over the real Christmas period. Mix of teens,
young adults, middle aged parents and grandparents. Board games are ruling the day and I’ve just had a meltdown over who’s cooking dinner. Dh and I have done a majority of the cooking over the last few days and he’s grabbed a beer and down tools. I’ve just flounced because no-one seems interested or concerned about who’s doing dinner; and I’m now two glasses of wine in hiding in the library ( yes there’s a library). I’m not sure what I’m asking for but my extended family are pushing my buttons. First world problems and all that. I’ll get my coat.

That's a shame OP because it sounds like a great setting for a family get together.
Would you consider it again without 'they that shall not be named' but just plan the meals better next time?

I think it's inevitable that some people won't pull their weight as far as cooking and cleaning up is concerned. Make sure you're one of the first to leave as otherwise you'll end up having to clean up!

We did this a few years ago. Inevitable unfortunately that some don’t pull their weight. The couple who go on (and on and on) about eating ethically and cooking from scratch and criticise the rest of us for our choices…ordered in pizza! We did have a pretty strict schedule agreed of who was in charge of each meal though, which was grudgingly kept to.

Is Inspector Goole due any minute?

Sounds like hell but why can't you all get a take away?
