What do you swear by to help you before/during a cold or other bug?

I start taking pukka elderberry syrup to help my immunity and at the start of a cold the echinacea cold & flu tablets really help.

Anyone else?

Zinc tablets.

Rub Vicks into my heels at bedtime
Flush out all the germs by constantly drinking lemon honey

Vitamin c. Loads of it. You can put powder in your drinks as well as taking capsules/tablets.

Also second elderberry syrup as per the OP. And keep sugar to a minimum.

I take magnesium, seaweed and lions mane daily.
Magnesium is so important for the processes in the body and involved in vitamin D synthesis. The seaweed is to support my thyroid. Lions mane I take for cognitive reasons but it's also anti inflammatory and immune supporting. I eat a good diet and try to keep it low carb/sugar and focus on fresh air exercise and daylight.

I add reishi and Chaga mushrooms to my coffee.

If I feel myself coming down with something I get in quick with elderberry syrup. I've made my own and trying to get a balance right between enough sugar to preserve it and making it not too sugary. I don't buy the really commercial ones but there are some sold in small batches I might try at a push.
I'm running low so I've bought dried elderberries and can easily make a day's portion at a time with honey added.
I confirmed quite how antiviral it is after having been exposed to COVID and waking up feeling dreadful a few days later, but then feeling fine within three hours and two tablespoons of syrup.

I have vitamin c and zinc if starting to feel under the weather and might have a few drops of vitamin D for a few days and I might take some good b vitamins for a week or two.

How do you make your elderberry syrup @OceanicBoundlessness I use pukka because it's low sugar but I'd like to try my own.

Sambucol and fish oil works well for us.
Fish oil is a natural source of it d and you need plenty of vit d for a good immune system. As well as vitamin c and protein.

A good diet really helps. We have lots of soups, curries, stews. That kind of food because it's easy to pack in the veg. Adding ginger and garlic helps.

We have satsumas regularly too.

@WildFlowerBees from fresh, the seed sistas recipe is a good one.
https://seedsistas.co.uk/2016/09/14/winter-immune-protection-elder-decoction-recipe/
I add some lemon at the end otherwise it's too sweet.

i plan to make smaller batches as needed from a few tablespoons of dried, simmer then strain, squeezing all the goodness out with a muslin. Then drink warm through the day with a bit of honey and lemon to taste. There's no need for sugar as it won't need preserving.

Ginger shots. Swear by them when I’m sick.
