Anyone know how long an urgent dental surgery referral will take?

Just seen my dentist and my painful tooth is cracked beyond repair. It needs extracting but the roots are curly so she needs to refer me to another practise.

She is unsure on the waiting time for an urgent and will find out and call me tomorrow but I’m worried it could be a long wait.

I did ask if anyone there could do it privately quickly but she didn’t think so but will ask the owner manager when he is in tomorrow.

Third xmas in a row this has happened to me.

I'd say 2 weeks. But then there's Xmas in the mix!

She says that it's highly likey I will need it done under sedation as it's not going to be an easy process.
Two weeks sounds like a long time but realistically, I could manage it.. I had to wait two months when I had an impacted wisdom tooth as that had to be done under GA and it was painful as anything with repeated infections.

I'm petrified this is going to get infected where it's split in two.

I can't even eat on the other side as I have a crack there that needs filling but thankfully only have a week to wait for that one.

Phone up and ask. It will depend on area .
One area where I worked waiting list around 8 weeks (longer if sedation needed, around 6 months) the other two plus years .

Not all practices offer sedation , but you may be able to find a practice locally that offers private extraction with sedation. That being said you may be waiting some time for an appointment even privately.

I don't know the name of the place she would be referring me to. How is anyone supposed to go about their daily life for that amount of time in this much pain? My tooth is split in two right through the damn nerves.
Last time I had a cracked tooth I ended up getting through 12 different types of antibiotics where I got repeated infections.

I'll handle it without sedation if I have to.

God the pain is throbbing.
Tramadol, ibuprofen, paracetamol and amitriptyline are not helping.
(all regular pain killers for me for other conditions)
