Really struggling to get anything done

I am just really struggling to get anything done these days. I took today off but somehow it got to 4pm and I still hadn't done anything really. Its like I have some kind of paralysis and struggle to just get off my bum.

I do feel a bit overwhelmed by all the Christmas prep but I'm like this at other times as well my time just goes and nothing gets done, how do I stop this and just get going?

I have to make lists. I love stationary and love checking things off my list.

Start small and break things down so they aren’t too overwhelming. For example instead of ‘clean bathroom’ I would write ‘clean bath’, ‘’clean sink’, ‘wash bath mat’.

Chinese Acupuncture stopped my migraines for a few months. I’d had them almost daily for a month.
I then made sure I did hiit three times a week. If I don’t exercise they return.

I feel you OP. I currently have a huge home to do list. It's never-ending and I barely seem to be able to touch the bulk of it. Somethings I just have to cross off the list as they will never get done e.g. buy new bed slats for DC. I would need DH to engage on this with me, that would be a task in its self, then the task of actually replacing the slats. I don't think I could do that alone. I also have a cupboard I have been meaning to clear out for months now. For some reason I really want it done for xmas. I wont get it done by then, despite my best intentions. Sometimes I find myself just staring at the list. I am almost 50 and I no longer have the energy, motivation or enthusiasm for most things. I feel better if I go out the house, but that takes a hell of a lot of effort and energy and tbh can drain me.

Talking about Mel Robbins, check out her 5 second rule. It will help you get started.

The other thing to do is get an app that you can set to only allow you a certain amount of time on different apps.

Tell yourself you'll do something for just 5 minutes - eg sort a pile of paperwork. Once you've got started you'll likely feel motivated to do more. Action creates momentum.

And lists. Yes - these are brilliant for helping you feel you've achieved something and very satisfying to tick off!

I appear to have a fear of the washing machine at the moment... clothes piling up. My kitchen is tiny... having to move things out of the way to use it doesn't help. will do this Wednesday as going out today and won't have time to dry clothes.

I also need to empty the bin...will do this today.

I'm like this op. I've had adhd since I was about 13 and still take meds for it but even that doesn't seem to help. Writing a list helps and the more I do the more I want to do, with me it's all or nothing I either crack on and get the whole house done in two hours or I sit there and do nothing not even a small task that would take ten mins. Very frustrating
