Doctors Strike

Is anyone else affected by this? I had an operation planned for the day before the strikes. I shouldn't be near the hospital on the days of the strike as its a day case but the hospital has cancelled it nonetheless.

I have a chronic illness which has needed a lot of NHS support and I've been unbelievably grateful. I wish it was properly funded and the staff given the pay and conditions they deserve.

But cancelling my op won't change their pay, all it does is leave me in more pain. My MP is Tory through and through and is so far up Sunak's bum he can't see daylight. He would be no help.

It's very hard to balance supporting the doctors when it leaves me in such pain. Please be gentle, I'm feeling rather sorry for myself.

Write to your MP , pay and conditions for junior doctors are appalling given the hours they work . There won’t be any left soon. 3 x 12.5 shifts fri sat sun . Then back to work n Monday Can’t take time off for a wedding if you’re rota is the in call that day.

So many Drs are suffering from burn out.

They’re also striking because recruitment and retention in the NHS is awful. Why work here as a doctor if you can earn double elsewhere? We simply aren’t competing to get enough medics.

Conditions are awful too, which of course knocks into recruitment and retention and causes a vicious circle. We absolutely do need to support our hospital doctors, this is not greed, this is about ensuring the NHS is slightly better to work in and be treated in.

I've seen conditions deteriorate in the last ten years. I have friends who work in the NHS. It could be such a gem, the envy of the world.

It's totally frightening.

I feel so sorry for all the staff, spread so thinly. But I also feel so sorry for patients trying to access care. The amount of medical admin is huge.

I’m sorry your operation has been cancelled and I hope you will be rescheduled soon. I’m on the other side as I’m NHS admin so I’m the one calling patients and cancelling their procedures.
i fully support the junior doctors, despite their title they are actually very experienced and vital to the advice but the strikes are a pain in the ass!

Blame the government, it’s a point of principle for them , they could pay them more. Happy to throw away money on inadequate PPE but not post the Drs. Probably part of the plan to privatise the NHS. The drs lobby could do them selves a favour by renaming the posts.
