What bird is this? Same size as a blackbird roughly, with black legs and beak, and white patches on his face.

leucistic blackbird maybe?

Bernardmanning · 10/12/2023 11:38

It looks like it could be a blackbird with some pigment missing.

Bernardmanning · 10/12/2023 11:40

I think that the black beak means that it's a young male?

We had a blackbird in the garden with white feathers in its tail and wings, for a couple of years. I think it's a "thing"

Thanks! I heard something on the radio and got all excited about the prospect of it being a vagrant bird. Still nice to see a blackbird with his own style.

It could well be a ring ouzel. This is a thrush that looks much like a blackbird but is more grey than black and has a white crescent on its neck and breast.

Oh, they’re nice! That’s not my bird though, his white patch was under his chin, like a beard, rather than bottom of neck/chest. Also on his forehead.
