DVLA and digital divorce certificate

I’m changing my name following my divorce (back to my maiden name)

However when reading the form for the DVLA they’ll want a paper copy of my absolute. I’ve only got a digital copy - that’s all I was issued with by the court- and the form states no photocopies are accepted.

Does anyone know if a print out would be accepted? Or do I need to go back to the court to get a certified version? I’m assuming this isn’t only going to be an issue for the DVLA but also the passport office and the bank??

Thank you

I've only got a digital, apparently you don't need a paper now according to the court.

Thank you! I’ll do the change of name deed poll too just to be sure and send it with a print out.

If you're going back to your birth name, you don't need a deed poll. This will happen frequently therefore they must have a process for this without the need to provide any additional documents.

Good point!

I was specifically told I still needed a deed poll even tho I was going back to my birth name.

I just got a template deed off Internet and got my neighbours to witness. Been accepted everywhere to change my name no issues.

I'm having a similar issue. I got my final order last month, and the bank won't accept a digital or printed copy as proof I'm divorced! They're saying they won't consider anything but a divorce decree. I thought the final order was now a final divorce decree, is that incorrect? I'm not sure how to proceed.

Which bank? I had no issues with Lloyd's bank - I went in to branch with a printed copy of my final order, my deed and my marriage cert. Also took my birth certificate just in case 🤣

It was HSBC. I had to travel to a different branch which accepted the final order. It seems to be an issue with the staff being trained improperly at my local branch.
