Hi MN!

My six year old (almost seven) has asked to watch this with her friend this weekend. Is it suitable?! I haven't seen it in such a long time!

Neither are easily frightened children. I don't think they would be worried about the 'bad guys' or being left behind in real life. Both have got a good grasp of fiction vs reality but I'm doubting my memory of the film!

It's excellent and fine for that age, IMO. It's quite cartoony violence!

Watched it with our 5 YO last weekend.

There's a bit of unkind language at the start (jerk etc) which I commented on as being unkind, but beyond that no problems. He absolutely loved it!

It should be ok. There are a few mild swear words as mentioned above, and one conversation between two of the boys that mentions ‘topless beaches’ and French girls not shaving their armpits. This would probably go over most young children’s heads though. The bit where Kevin watches the old gangster movie might frighten a sensitive child as it shows someone being shot. Everything else in the film is probably fine for that age group.

My daughter first watched this at five. It was fine except for wetting herself laughing at Marv.

Thank you everyone, this was exactly what I thought, but couldn't quite trust my memory!

My 4 year old loves it - just watch out in case they are inspired to create bad guy traps afterwards!

My 8 yr old loves that film and asks to watch it every Christmas for the past two years.
She has always seen it as being so daft and never going to happen in real life! 😄

That did cross my mind! I'll be watching with them and will point out how dangerous those things are (in true mum fashion). They're sensible girls but you can never be too sure!
