How long do Ugg slippers last?

How often do they need replacing, as you can’t wash them, so they must get stinky?

For a while I hope as I've got my mum a pair for Christmas!

SunnySomer · 08/12/2023 07:09

My pair is 7 years old and needs replacing due to wearing on the stitching. They look a little bit shabby (but are fine and still v warm).
they don’t stink at all as they’re a natural fibre. I do often wear socks with them which perhaps is helpful (and I only wear cotton or wool socks as I find artificial fibres make my feet sweaty and smelly).
Uggs are the best slippers I’ve ever had.

Tumilnaughts · 08/12/2023 07:10

I replace mine every 2-3 years but I don't wear them out of the house. You probably could wash the interior woolly part if you needed too with wool wash and just do it by hand. Also wearing socks with them helps.

Years

There is no smell.
I've mine 3 years, worn dauly with/out socks-no odour.

mylifeisprettygood · 08/12/2023 07:22

I generally have a new pair every 2 years and so does DH. When the sheepskin is worn I pop them in the washing machine and it freshens them right up. I am currently wearing pink sequin uggs and they've been in the machine a few times. No damage done.

GreatGateauxsby · 08/12/2023 08:06

3-5 years. Depending on wear / how hard you are.

I prefer costco/Kirkland ones
They are about £20 real sheepskin and have slightly better soles.
But They go on sale about sept time and are hard to get/buy.

I’m on my 3rd pair of Ugg slippers. They last about 3 years and I wear them a lot. They don’t smell at all. Nor do my husband’s! Just taken this photo and I think they’re about a year old. I’d say buy a size bigger than usual.

Get Emus instead.
Much better quality.

I've got Emu fourth winter still going strong. I do wear socks all day. Had to go down a size though.

justasking111 · 08/12/2023 08:42

My DILs have UGG mules, they get terribly stained and look scruffy by the end of the winter. They come in pretty colours though

I just checked prices Emu are £30 cheaper

WeekWeekWeek · 08/12/2023 08:47

I’m currently wearing mine- they get a lot of use. I’ve had them for four years and just love them. They’re a bit scruffy looking but still plenty of wear and they never smell.

wherethewildtbingsgo · 08/12/2023 08:55

I used to swear by them as my first pair lasted at least a few years of daily use. But the most recent couple of pairs haven't lasted- the sheepskin has worn and the soles have warped. I wouldn't buy them again because I think they are probably no better these days than any other sheepskin slipper you can buy. I wonder if they have changed their manufacturer or something.

This year I've bought a pair of sheepskin lined Birkenstock clogs and I'm loving them. They are super comfy and warm but have a proper sole so I do actually wear them outside the house too sometimes.

OhNaffOffYouWazzock · 08/12/2023 08:58

The boots last me about two years before they wear through at the toe which is annoying as the soles etc are still in good nick. I've also got some of the mule slippers which I like but they've gone flat quite quickly and obviously aren't as warm as the boots.
Mine do get a bit whiffy on occasion but I never wear socks with them and have hot feet and they're easily freshened up.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 08/12/2023 09:05

I’ve had a pair of sheepskin house boots from Celtic for at least 5 years now. They’re machine washable (with Woolly Wash) - I live in them in winter but you can wear them outside, sole is just lighter than for their outdoor boots.

The inner soles of mine were getting very worn so I invested in some new sheepskin insoles, £15, also Celtic, and they feel like new again.

Another plus is that they’re made in the U.K. (Cornwall).

SeasonalWitch · 08/12/2023 09:10

I have sheepskin slippers but not Uggs. They are the only slipper I’ve ever had that hasn’t ever got stinky.

The only thing that I find annoying is they get stained from dripping stuff on when cooking or cleaning.

How are you all cleaning them?

blorm · 08/12/2023 12:56

I've had uggs for 13 years and there's no smell

maximist · 08/12/2023 13:26

Mine are similar to the first pair pictured earlier in the thread, and they've been through the washer several times and come out fine. They are looking scruffy now as they've had stuff spilt on them, but they're years old. And they don't smell!
