Vacuum cleaners

Looking for recommendations on what models to get or avoid.

My budget is £600 max.

My house has a mixture of hardwood floors and carpet. Carpet is only in bedrooms. My hair is really long and gets everywhere.

Ideally a cordless vacuum as plug sockets are in awkward spaces and might not stretch to hard to reach areas. I’ve read online that cheaper cordless vacuums aren’t powerful enough, and that you need to consider space for docking stations etc. but then some of the recommendations were closer to £1000 which I wouldn’t stretch to!

No cordless is as good as a corded but the dyson animal range are decent cordless. Ignore anyone that tells you shark are better. The issue with cordless is they tend not to sit as low to the floor if that makes sense so I don't think they're as good on hard floors. The Miele C3 is the best vacuum I've ever had but it is corded.

Oh god there’s so many options - I’m now even considering a robot vacuum. I am totally sold by the marketing of the cordless stick vacuums too. Not sure whether it’s best to get a mid range corded one AND a cheap stick one for best of both worlds?

Agree with the Miele c3 or C2

Don't go for a shark. I did this thinking better than Dyson... Nope! I have a dogs and lots of kids... my shark isn't cutting it. Hoping I get a Dyson post Xmas! Fab budget by the way.

For that budget you could have a shark cordless (love mine still going strong after 5 years) and a Eufy robot. That's my winning combination. Or two Eufys, one on each floor! There is something immensely satisfying about coming back to a room that's been robot vacuumed and emptying the dirt box out knowing all you did was pick up the crap from the floor and chuck it on the sofa.

Miele.
Dyson are prima donnas that throw tantrums all the time. You spend half your time tending to their high maintenance needs. They need the smelling salts if a bit of dust gets trapped in the wrong area of them.

I've got the same situation as you and haven't found a solution yet for a cordless. I've currently got three vacuums, and use all three.

Miele C3 + Turbo brush - had it for years - definitely still the best. Just had to replace the turbo brush (didn't come with this but it is great recommend). Corded though.

Miele Triflex - best cordless Vacuum I've had. Problem is the battery is heavy and changing the attachments isn't that easy due to this and the connections being quite stiff. Great with the regular brush head for the main areas. I just find it too heavy for stairs and detail work.

Dyson V6 (cordless) - obviously not latest model. Was fine for a bit (suction never as good as miele). Have now replaced batteries. Seems to constantly need attention though to get it working properly. I just use it for the stairs now.
