Are ready meals easier when you live on your own?

I know ready meals are supposed to be unhealthy, even the 'healthy' ones. I live on my own, I work full time and have very little motivation to cook when I get home. I'll be the same when I retire as I will be out all the time.

I try to do quick healthy meals with short cuts, like breaded chicken in the air fryer and veg in the microwave and meals like that. I also batch cook and freeze but then I get fed up of all the pots once I've done the batch cooking and don't always fancy what I've made once its been frozen.

I see plenty of people stocking up on ready meals when I go to M&S and I am so tempted to just give in and have them most of the time, just ping in the microwave and one plate to wash up.

Anyone live alone and feel the same?

There is a bit of snobbery on here about ready meals which I find quite tiresome. Quite apart from the fact that they can be a godsend for people that are ill or have disabilities, they are not going to kill you if you have them every now & again!

Nobody's saying they aren't convenient or that eating them now and again will kill you though, are they? The OP asked if she was unreasonable to consider having them most of the time, not 'every now and again'. It's not snobbery to prefer to eat fresh, normal, home-cooked food.

I live alone and do eat ready meals a couple of times a week, when I can't be bothered to cook just for myself. The M&S ones are usually nice (chicken and asparagus risotto) and I supplement with veg. Iceland's collaborations with restaurants are good too.
The delivery companies are good for this....hello fresh and the like. I yearn for someone to cook for me, like I did for decades when married/had children (now grown), so go to my parents once a week for mums delicious meals! She still cooks from scratch every day at nearly 80 bless her.

Forgot to mention Charlie Bingham ready meals tend to be very tasty as do Cook.

Ok fair enough, I didn’t see the ‘most of the time’ part. Still it’s a bit of a theme on here generally I find.

They are really bad for you long term, fullof sugar and loaded with salt. You can't survive on them. I eat one meal a day and always cook proper food. I freeze theeftovers for znother day and eat proper food with lots of veg.
