According to Jilly Cooper, it depends on which sort of ride.

Brilliant!
Usually after every time I ride because they always end up dirty, Mud in winter, dust in summer. I ride bareback quite a lot too (ooh er missus!) which means they also get covered in hair.

Balloonhearts · 06/12/2023 22:31

After every wear. They either smell of urine from mucking out or are covered in dust from filling haynets or hair from riding bareback or grooming or him rubbing his head on me or they have saddle soap smeared on them.

Or lately every item of clothing I wear gets chewed as there is a new foal on the yard and next youngest horse (3yr) gets jealous and has started grabbing clothes and stealing scrunchies again. Horses are terrible for your wardrobe.

It depends really on what I've been up to. Usually after every wear coz I'm a scruffy sod (more Jinny than Jill...!!)

SabbatWheel · 06/12/2023 23:57

1-2 days. They get a bit minging after that.

Justonedayatatime11 · 07/12/2023 08:02

After every ride as I always seem to end up filthy!

If they’ve just been ridden in, I probably wear them 2 maybe 3 times. If I’ve been doing yard chores then every wear as they are pretty vile
