Down nearly £300 due to safe place delivery - what to do?

I ordered something online that was being delivered. The time frame they provided was between 8.30-6pm and I waited in all day apart from the school run and they tried to deliver it then. It got rescheduled to the next day and they assured me it would be the morning. Again they attempted delivery when I was on the school run. I ended up phoning and saying this is going to keep happening so can they just leave it behind my gate in my back garden if they come during the school run. It was a high value item so it was meant to be signed for but they agreed to this. They again came during school run today and said they'd left my parcel in a safe place except it isn't there. I phoned up and they said it was left in the agreed safe place and I consented to that and am liable for the item from that point onwards. It's a high value item in a box that obviously states what it is so I feel like the drivers seen an opportunity and kept it and it seems there's nothing I can do about it? Sad

I accidentally hit deliver to safe place on a £2500 delivery, wouldn’t let me change it back, tracked that delivery like a hawk and worked from home so I could be in for it!

I don’t think there is much you can do except as others have said check if your neighbours have ring.

I literally caught an evri driver doing just this the other day!saw him get out the car, walk around the side to my 'safe place', take a picture, walk back to the car with it, upload a picture and say delivered! I caught it all on the ring but I also saw him with my own eyes as it was my day off. He made absolutely no attempt to deliver the parcel. Luckily I had footage but I immediately took safe place out of my delivery preferences. Unfortunately this time of year is terrible for festive chancers. I hope you manage to get replacement goods sent out.

We have security cameras for this very reason. It's an expensive lesson to learn but probably not much you can do now unfortunately.

Living in a quiet place has nothing to do with it - I live on a 'naice' street and we have blokes doing the rounds on bikes at the moment nicking parcels off doorsteps, just chancing it basically. My dp had a laptop delivery go missing the other day - it was supposed to be only delivered directly to him after he gave the delivery guy a code, but they just left it outside and it disappeared. Fortunately it was their fault so no extra cost to us but this sort of thing is rife at the moment.

I wouldn't usually for something so expensive but it keeps coming in the same 30 min period I'm not home so I allowed them to leave it if it happened to come in that same time. Thinking what's worst that can happen in 30 mins. Sad

Is there a parcel shop/Amazon locker/delivery to store option near your home or school?

Whats done is done for this item but if you don’t have a doorbell camera, then you ought to get things delivered to a shop in future

It's rife at this
time of year unfortunately and courier companies use agencies to cover increased volumes
Doesn't help now obviously but when I've ordered things like AirPods, I've selected a locker/ pick up point nearby
