I think my phone call was recorded

I have just been having a chat on my phone to my brother, during which we discussed various topics including our shared childhood, topics in the media, current political issues and our concerns about some local news events.

After hanging up and opening up WhatsApp to message a different family member about a couple of trivial things, I heard my brother's voice speaking about something we had discussed much earlier in the phone call. It was really odd.

I immediately phoned my brother and told him what had happened and he said he'd had something similar happen to him at the same time.

This was a snippet of the conversation from some time back, not an echo. There was a time delay of nearly an hour because we had switched topics.

I'm wondering who recorded the call and what was the purpose of letting us both know it had been recorded.

I'm into rational and fact-based explanations of things and definitely not a tin foil hat wearing type.

Ever since I saw an article on TV where the presenter was saying they didn't trust their Alexa since it randomly started repeating past conversations I only turn my Alexa speaker on when I want to use it then turn it off straight away.

Edit: unless you mean the way Alexa played rude song to my grandkids while I was at daughter's house. I just remembered that. Bloody, soddin' Alexa!

He said that he'd had random Alexa weird behaviour a while back.

temu app has been linked to spyware, it has been designated as a potential security risk...its been claimed that they are aiming to sell loads of people extremely low cost goods whilst getting them to download something on their phone capable of modifying files!
