Anything that will help laryngitis?

I'm on day 3 of laryngitis. Any advice on what might help clear it up sooner.

I'm trying to rest my voice (haven't really got a choice anyway as I feel breathless if I talk too much), having honey and hot water first thing, eating extra fruit and taking zinc tablets, and allowing myself to have a nap sometime in the day as I'm feeling really tired. I've got a bit of a tickly cough but no sore throat or pain. Meant to be going out Friday night, so want to be well for that a well!!

I'm a speech therapist and have done a few years in voice therapy.

I'm sorry, I'm going to go against the previous poster - don't use lozenges, they are drying to the vocal cords.

Can you postpone the night out for a week? It's going to prolong it hugely.

Real voice rest this week - text people instead, or use gestures, or write on cards. DON'T WHISPER.

Lots and lots and lots of water (or whatever water based fluid you can drink)

You could try steam inhalation 1/2/multiple times a day - bowl of hot water (not actually boiling as that's drying to the vocal cords), don't put any stuff in it, towel over the head and hang over it for a few minutes with your mouth open.

When your voice does start to recover, keep the volume very gentle and overarticulate/mouth the words as much as you can.

Good luck...
