And would you be theirs?
hypothetical question after a topic with a work colleague who said her husband would call the police if he witnessed her doing something illegal.

@Luigifes how awful for you. I salute you for protecting children from him 🌺

Ponderingwindow · 05/12/2023 12:39

Serious crime, nope. He would turn me in to protect our child so there would still be one parent not in jail. Actually, he might turn himself in instead of me. He is convinced I am the better parent.

No. I'm a firm believer in the proper rule of law and of the course of justice.

Lying for someone - anyone - is not a part of that. I would absolutely throw anyone under the bus if they have done something serous like drunk driving, violence, abuse - domestic, child etc. I choose not to be party to other people's appalling actions.

Speeding, benefit fraud, minor thefts or similarly - I still wouldn't lie about it if it asked about it, but I also wouldn't pick up the phone to report it.

100%
He's even help me hide a body!

Newlydivorcedyay · 05/12/2023 12:54

Definitely wouldn't ever give a false alibi to the police!
But if it was something like covering up for him with his mother or something, probably fair enough.

ANightingale · 05/12/2023 12:56

I wouldn't ask him, and I wouldn't be one for him.

You can't rely on what you are being an alibi for - look at Maxine Carr!

RaininSummer · 05/12/2023 12:57

I don't think so. If he had done something requiring a made up alibi it must be serious. Not a chance.

Depends on the crime to a certain extent, but yes. I know mn is generally a bunch of do gooders, but I couldn’t imagine being with someone who would happily phone the police on their spouse (unless they were actually assaulting them or something).

Not happily but if my dh did something appalling like sold secrets to the Russians or raped children then too right I would tell the police. What kind of monster wouldn't?

AgnesX · 05/12/2023 12:58

I hope it never comes to being in that position where I have to help him dismember the body.😁

Mydpisgrumpierthanyours · 05/12/2023 12:59

Ide be making a statement that dp did it 😂

80sbabyy1 · 05/12/2023 13:06

Luigifes so sorry to hear you went through that, thank you for reporting him and keeping children safe.

Depends on what I'd done. He'd always stand up for me if I was in the right, but not if I did something completely out of order.
