TW suicide in the military

My DS is stationed in the UK. He's been there less than 6 months and there have been 4 (possibly 5) suicides by service personnel in that time on the base.

The personnel are told not to speak to family about it.

The poor souls have been found by their friends in their accommodation.

Wtf can we do? This is surely some kind of emergency? It makes me sick that nothing appears to be done about it.

Name changed as obviously I've told DS I won't post it and I know MN likes to post on FB now

How sad and tragic. You mean they don't tell their families when they've died or only about how they've died. I don't have much advice as I know nothing about the Military but ill hold your hand until someone more clever comes along. My thoughts go to these brave Men and Women

I mean the serving personnel aren't supposed to speak about what's happening on camp. I don't know any of the families involved but the fact it's happening so often is alarming to me and I feel like it needs addressing 😕

This is awful, there have been some high profile suicides reported where there’s been bullying & harassment at the core. It sounds as though it’s rife in the services. Is there any kind of well-being support available for your DS? If there isn’t there should be. The triggers for this need to be explored so that better support can be put in place.

I know anyone who's remotely suffering with MH bottles it up for fear of being put on meds and discharged.
