My husband has received ESA (employment support allowance) for over ten years after being too ill to work.

nothing has hit his bank account for the last four weeks, and he turned 65 eight weeks ago. We had thought as he didn’t get his state pension till 66 he would keep getting ESA, is that not right? If it is, it may be a blip which explains missing payments.

if it has stopped, surely he can get his pension?

I am sure I have read about this anomaly somewhere. I think he may have to apply for universal credit. Hopefully someone with more knowledge will be along soon.

Give them a call and find out what is going on. Have there been any other changes for example getting a private pension? It can reduce the amount ESA BTW new style if just the same as contributions based ESA

Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)

Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) money if you cannot work because of illness or disability - rates, eligibility, apply, assessment.

He can check his state retirement age on Gov.Uk site.
ESA would not suddenly stop unless he was turning state retirement age, has missed a re-assessment or review or as pp says has started to receive a private pension. Any private pension over £85 a week would affect ESA.
If none of these apply then you need to give ESA a call asap to find out why payments have stopped.

I am assuming this is contributions based ESA by the way ?
