Driving test with driving anxiety!

Name changed for this post as I haven't told a soul that my driving test is this week!

Long story, but a bit of a background, I learnt to drive years ago at 18, took 3 tests failed them and it was a huge knock of confidence, to the point I had severe driving anxiety. I'm on medication and having therapy and finally got to the point I'm ready to go again.

I've been with my instructor for a few months now as well as driving with my husband. I'm confident, I enjoy driving now which is HUGE for me. But I can't help but fear those test nerves will kick in and make me do something silly and then I'm back to square one.
Both my instructor and husband have said I'm test ready and I feel it too, it's just those damn nerves I'm worried about!

Im so determined to drive now, I've come so far but I'm worried failing again will knock my confidence. If you have been in a similar position and passed what are your tips? What helped? Any advice for my test?

I know how you feel OP. I took my test five times and I hated learning to drive so at least you like it! All you can do is be confidence and try to cramp in as many lessons as you can! Oh and eat a banana!

Remember your instructor thinks you’re test ready by putting you in for your test. If you make a mistake, don’t be disheartened and try your best still. I thought I failed on my last test as however I didn’t! Even if you do fail, it’s not the end of the world. All the best and update us on how you get on!

Go to your GP and get propranolol. It stops the physical symptoms of anxiety like sweaty palms and a racing heart. I’m convinced I only got through my driving test because of it!

You have sufficient experience not to need to be nervous. You have confidence as well. It's likely it will all go well.

that said, stupid little things can cause failure. But just don't let it get you down - you take it, take it and take it again until it's done. Nobody is tallying up how many times you've failed anyway.
