Going to a concert, standing tickets, but my feet hurt!

As the title states, I'm going to a gig next week, we bought standing tickets ages ago, but my feet have been more and more painful recently and I'm not sure how to survive the night. I have fibromyalgia, it hasn't been too bad recently, but is flaring up a bit now, maybe due to the cold.

Any suggestions for how to protect my feet? Recommendations for some really good trainers/footwear or insoles? I don't drink, so will probably take painkillers beforehand.

No seated tickets available to swap for and dp is really looking forward to the gig, as am I.

Any suggestions welcome!

My podiatrist went mental when I walked into his office wearing Skechers. Said the best place for them was the bin... and that was being polite. I've now got some Joya trainers that are hideous looking but like walking on a cloud.

Get some supportive insoles, they'll make the world of difference instantly rather than worrying about new shoes. I've got arthritis in the upper bones of my feet and it's made a huge difference wearing these daily.

I've seen some chairs that literally fold into a frisbee shape. So you could have it there for when you need it, keep it in a backpack when you're standing.

Telescopic stools, available at b&q and Amazon etc

Edited

I'm not sure they'll allow a backpack to a gig. Otherwise a great idea!

I'll look at insoles and Fitflops/Hoka, thanks.

You could hang about the bottom of the seating area stairs for a bit and ask if anyone wants to swap. Most of the seated people would have preferred standing.

Doggymummar · 30/11/2023 18:57

North face duvet shoes are always in my bag for these situations

Growingoutthegrey · 30/11/2023 19:11

Or just carry it! Having said that I've been allowed bags in recently, they just check them

VanillaCaramel · 30/11/2023 19:21

Standing tickets are the most popular so usually sell out first.
Have you thought about offering a swap for seated area on bands/gig social media platform

BCBird · 30/11/2023 19:25

Have u got any Crocs? I know thry are hideous, but they do give a lot of support. The cool kids wear them.with socks.

alloalloo · 30/11/2023 19:34

I've no Crocs 😂 can't stand them. If it was summer I'd wear my birkenstocks which would help, but it's too cold for that.

I'd rather not try for seated tickets, I know DP would be disappointed and I want to dance too, it's just the long time beforehand waiting for both acts and then waiting to get out. But I'll think about it, I know it be the sensible thing to do.

Is the Levellers with Ned's supporting? 🤔

purplecorkheart · 30/11/2023 19:55

There are walking sticks you can get that fold out into stools (seem to be aimed at people attending golf tournament). They look like normal walking sticks/crutches. Just go towards the back and ask dp to stand behind. I am sure amazon will have them.

Otherwise the last major concerts I have been at had slight gap between where the seating area stopped and standing area started. It was mainly stewards standing there but they allowed people seat on the crowd with their back to the barriers.

Fitflop boots. Buy on Amazon prime for quick delivery.

I have painful plantar fasciitis and like to look fairly fashionable and be comfortable so I wear Adidas Flatform Superstars or Adidas Campus (from Office) which have removable insoles you can swap with Valsole arch support insoles £19 from Amazon.
I am always comfy in my Adidas now.

lookingforMolly · 30/11/2023 20:10

My New Balance have removable insoles too.

LibbyL92 · 30/11/2023 20:17

Deffo contact the venue with a doctors note, they’ll move you to seating.

I did this with a gig at Wembley in June. They were massively helpful

purplecorkheart · 30/11/2023 20:37

* sorry typo in my post. It should read sit on ground.

Ponderingwindow · 30/11/2023 20:42

proper orthopedic shoes with arch support and compression socks or tights will help. They won’t take care of all the pain, but should slow it down.

JanglingJack · 30/11/2023 20:49

Peripheral neuropathy here. I just up my meds (and get drunk). I'm assuming you are on Gabapentin etc and not just painkillers - I'm not sure how fibromyalgia works. My philosophy is enjoy the night, deal with the consequences afterwards.
I was at Wembley Ovo in June and often nipped out for a sit in the corridor. Lovely staff brought me water and one brought me a fan and a cup of ice bless her. Didn't help my feet much, but they got a rest and I cooled down.
Don't stress, comfy shoes and make the best.
Have a great night!

Ooh... Hello? Where 🤣

My condition is through damaged nerves so it really won't make a difference what shoes I'm wearing. Bare foot, sat down now and I am in agony.

I'd rather dance and have fun than sit tbh.

No!

I have a horrible feeling what shoes I wear won't make a difference either, but worth a try. I'll up my meds too, but I don't drink.

I'll look into all the options mentioned, thanks.
