Question for full time NHS shift workers

I have been offered a full time job in the NHS which will be shifts including nights and weekends.

I understand the unsociable pay aspect.

Could anyone who works full time shifts indicate on average how many of their shifts per month attract unsociable hours?

Thanks 😊

It's been a while since I worked for nhs but we used to do preference for shifts on electronic rota the month before and these would be considered. As a basic it used to be 3wks of days and a week of nights. Weekends were relatively evenly split due to the enhancement but you always had staff who couldn't do them for whatever reason and staff who would prefer them. There was always a lot of shift swapping between staff too.

It depends a lot on the speciality and whether they have the same number of staff in overnight as they do during the day. If it is the same, then you would expect to have around two thirds of your shifts with some form of enhancement (as there are 14 possible shifts each week and only 5 of those aren't enhanced). But if they have more staff in the day and less in the night then you will have less shifts with enhancements if that makes sense.
