Can you use a dehumidifier for condensation?

We have issues in the winter in our bedroom with condensation, all over the window and on one wall. Only happens when it's really cold so we just get on with it and clean as we go.

I've started waking in the night coughing and feeling the damp in the air. Would a dehumidifer help with this? I've googled but I have no idea how they work!

We paid £220 at the time but I just saw they're more now. That's a good make though with a choice of different models.

Got one of these last week (it was £26). Already we've had 4 condensation-free mornings.

@SoRainbowRhythms would you be kind enough to give a review after a weeks use? My DD is in a rental and doesn't have enough space for a normal sized one but her room is very damp. TIA.
