I bought one of those down coats mail order and too small. Thought it would be quicker to traipse all the into London in the rain rather than send it back.
they point blank refused at the till I literally wanted to cry. I had the item the receipt and the card that I paid with but no, apparently it’s not their policy!

Im not sure unilqo but its happened to me with victoria secret few years ago

keye · 27/11/2023 17:08

They refused to accept the return or they refused it in store but you can send it back?

wutheringkites · 27/11/2023 17:10

Uniqlo customer services is shit. They take absolutely ages to refund returns too - I think I waited 7 weeks once.

SoupDragon · 27/11/2023 17:11

The returns policy on their website says they only accept exchanges in store, not straight refunds.

margotrose · 27/11/2023 17:11

Often if you order online, you have to return via post too.

dementedpixie · 27/11/2023 17:21

They may not be set up to take online returns instore.

CarInsuranceIssue · 27/11/2023 17:22

Same with Sports Direct. Can’t return in store and it’s £5 to return by courier/Royal Mail. As well as a £5 delivery fee.

EachandEveryone · 27/11/2023 17:25

I really don’t fancy waiting seven weeks for £150☹️

I always return by post and it's usually pretty quick

CarInsuranceIssue · 27/11/2023 17:30

Surely it won’t take 7 weeks!

Why on earth would it take seven weeks?

Toottooot · 27/11/2023 17:50

If I had to travel anywhere with the purpose of returning an item I think I would have made the effort to read their returns policy. 🤷🏻‍♀️

If it doesn't weigh much, it would be cheaper to return via your own Royal Mail postage/courier arrangement - surely they cannot force you to use their own arranged one?

In fairness, OP, 7 weeks is not necessary: the PP had a bad experience. I only returned one Uniqlo order and think I got refunded within a week. Even my recent 'long' experience with Esprit was about 3 weeks. They're all meant to refund within 2 weeks.

EachandEveryone · 27/11/2023 17:58

Someone up thread said it too them seven weeks to get a refund. I never read them as it didnt occur to me as every shop I’ve used takes make in store.

I don’t think it’s acceptable for any company not to refund immediately receive the return. The money leaves your account quickly enough, it’s not fair to have to wait weeks for it to return.

margotrose · 27/11/2023 18:03

Just because one person had a bad experience doesn't mean you will.

Ultimately if they won't accept an in-store return you don't really have a choice.

Leafyleaferson · 27/11/2023 18:05

I worked in retail years ago. People would order items online and then return to store but that return would come off our store's takings for the day. It was hard enough selling enough to reach target without having to then refund £££ that hadn't even been spent in our store in the first place. So I suppose I understand why they won't accept returns in store but as a customer it is very frustrating!

notmorezoom · 27/11/2023 18:06

Every shop has a different policy - you need to check online before you buy. Not unusual for things bought online to have to be returned by post

SwedishEdith · 27/11/2023 18:07

One tip for Uniqlo returns, request the QR code as soon as you're not sure about something. I've returned stuff outside of the 30 days with no issues. But I've not been able to print the return QR code if I've left that too late. I've bought and returned loads from Uniqlo and haven't had any terrible experiences

butterycrispness · 27/11/2023 18:08

Yep happened to me. It's really really annoying.

trialanderrordarling · 27/11/2023 18:09

It's annoying but it's clear in their returns policy

Dee1224 · 27/11/2023 18:36

Hi, Uniqlo will do an exchange instore for an item bought online - that’s what I did last week.

It was straightforward but a bit annoying, as the items I really wanted to swap for were out of stock. However, I couldn’t face sending my original stuff back by post, as I would have lost a quite generous discount on a skirt I was keeping, so picked a couple of just ok things instead.

Uniqlo also deduct the cost of postage from your refund if sending back online purchases.

I won’t do an online order from Uniqlo again myself because it’s too inconvenient
