My PT won't let me cancel!

I've had a PT online for 8wks. I've done absolutely everything asked of me and have lost 2lbs. I'm absolutely knackered and stressed and overwhelmed with tracking, steps, calorie counting and so little progress.

I want to stop. Ive made an initial payment for first 3mths but apparently I signed a contract for 24wks so need to pay him for Jan, Feb and March.

He said I've signed contract so I HAVE to pay regardless of if I do the programme or not.

He said my progress is so slow because it just is and it will come off eventually!?

I'm not sure there's anything I can do is there? I'm so mad and upset. Feel like I'm getting robbed!

How is it helpful if I've said nicely 4x that I don't want weight loss advice.

(One of the reasons being that lots of different people tell me contradicting things along with social media throwing out 500 different theories of how to lose weight and it gives me massive anxiety, shame, feelings of failure and obsession with scales)

I think you've reached the right conclusion yourself tbh. Glad you've got out of your contract.

You don’t want the advice and that’s fine. You don’t have to take it or keep reading peoples suggestions. But people are going to give it. Unsolicited. Which I agree is annoying, but there’s nothing you can do apart from ignore it or ask for the thread to be deleted.

Everyone is different. So different methods of weight loss will work great for some people and not for others.

If this is making you anxious and you have an unhealthy obsession with the scales then I’d make a GP appointment.

If you signed a contract committing to a certain number of sessions then you have to pay it. At the end of the day it doesn't matter whether or not the plan is working or what you are or aren't doing. It matters what's in the contract that you signed.

That isn't true - if the service is rubbish and not up to standard, you don't have to pay for it. You'd have to prove that though.

However, it's not an issue here as the OP has left as the contract didn't tie her in for as long as her PT was claiming.

I know you said you don't want advice but I'll just give it you again!

I didn't give you weight loss advice, I suggested other means of exercising which might work better and be cheaper than a PT who isn't working for you.

And despite what people have said, 8 weeks IS enough to see a difference. When I started going to a bootcamp weekly, I started doing significantly faster parkrun times about 6-8 weeks later. I wasn't actually expecting the difference so it was a nice surprise.

Glad you got out. If it wasn't working for you then hopefully something else will. Good luck with it.
Scroll down for my excellent if unsolicited weight loss advice ignoring your multiple polite posts clearly stating you don't want any....

No weight loss 'advice' from me.

If you want to learn to accept yourself then there are some really good insta accounts with amazing and inspiring people wearing lovely clothes, having great lives.

Focus on all the things about yourself which are amazing and wonderful and beautiful and fulfilling. Do things you love that make you happy. Be unapologetically you, regardless of the scales.

Don't give up, 2lb weight loss is great!! I also signed on to an online PT and like you wasn't seeing results as quick as I liked- but I started seeing a difference between week 11-13 in my photos. I drank my water religiously- I went to the gym when I really didn't want to- I eat a BIG protein meal for my dinner ( Iceland do my protein meals that are huge protein and 3 for £10) so easy to plan and track in advance. You are literally me 8 months ago- I'm now 11kgs down and feel great. It does get better 💗 ask for variations on fitness plan, have a bloody treat more often and think in a way of if you didn't start then there would be no progress- you have started- that is HUGE progress. Be kind to yourself and prioritise rest, that's also important
