Urgh. Give me a virtual arse kicking. I've got to do the morally right thing and it's pissing me off.

I ordered some ceiling lampshades from Amazon and they arrived at the weekend. I've just had a second set delivered this morning. I checked and I hadn't accidentally ordered two lots. It's clearly their stuff up.

On the one hand, keeping them is stealing. I would be a thief. Bad 'karma' (I know that's not what karma actually is, but it's the common use of it)

On the other hand - it's Amazon. Who steal millions quite legally by avoiding paying their taxes. And they treat their workforce like shit.

Plus - the lampshades are so damned pretty and I could have all my rooms looking the same.

Sigh. I'm going to contact Amazon and tell them to collect but I don't want to, damnit. 😭

Also I'm on here when I should be working so if you insult me enough I'll log off in a tantrum and actually get some work done.

Don't tell them. If you tell them, then some poor sap who works for Amazon will get into trouble. Donate something to your food bank to redress your karmic balance.

Also free lampshades woohoo

Just to cast another light on this it's well known that Amazon treat workers like absolute crap. It's all over the media in fact.

If you check the news there were worldwide strikes held by amazon workers on Black Friday, in fact.

I did say it was anecdotal based on people I know why have worked for Amazon but they don’t come out badly on either glassdoor or indeed.

I wouldn’t do anything. If they want them back they can contact you and collect from your house. We have to do enough fannying round for massive companies mistakes.

I ordered a small table a few years ago :(not amazon) it came and one corner was scuffed. I contacted the company and they said they would dispatch a new one. They told me to keep the (slightly) damaged other one. So now I have TWO small tables. Result!!!
I too wouldn't bother telling them. It's highly doubtful they will send a heavy mob round to your house 😉

Something similar happened to me with Joe browns ..I ordered a rug that didn't turn up ...so I had a refund
A month later it arrived ..
So I phoned them up to say it needed to be collected...I got the most rude woman possible on the phone ,who said ... because I couldn't agree to wait in for the whole day for the rug to be collected, that I was trying to get it for free.
I said I am very busy and can't give up a full day to wait in for a rug to be collected..but if you give me a time I will make sure someone is in ..
She refused to give me a time ,and made out I was being grabby and difficult..
So I suggested a date my husband was of work ,and he waited in all day.
The collection company turned up at 8pm ..took one look at the rug and refused to take it , saying it was too big and would not fit in his car ...
There was no way I was ringing Joe browns back after the rude first woman...so I've still got the rug ,and no one contacted me since ..
Last time I try to do the right thing

I’d keep them.

I’ve had dual deliveries before and I’ve just kept it. Probably would t if it was something high value but for some lampshades I couldn’t be bothered with the hassle

I've just had a similar situation with Amazon. I ordered a yoga mat two weeks ago, but got a message from Amazon saying it was delayed. Then they told me it was probably lost in transit, and issued me with a refund.

The day after, I got a message saying Royal Mail had tried to deliver it, by then a week late (I missed it and had to ask for redelivery). It eventually turned up today, two weeks late.

I just contacted Customer Services at Amazon, who could see what had happened and they just told me to keep it. Obviously if they change their minds and ask for payment I'll do that. But I think they can't be bothered with the hassle.

I work with but not for Amazon. Anyone nice that works there leaves very quickly. I hate going there and have left in tears more than once. I'd have no qualms keeping it.

Amazon once sent me 2 kindles fire tablets I called them and not only did they not bother to collect the spare one.. they refunded me for the one I wanted to keep. So I'm probably going to hell

PurpleMoonbows · 27/11/2023 19:51

I had this with some slippers earlier this year. Two pairs delivered but charged for one. It wasn't from Amazon and I would have had to pay postage to return so I donated the spare pair to my local charity shop.
