I know this has been done to death but I didnt pay attention!

Am i better off keeping my thermostat on a continuous highish temp so it dips on and off all day for a small heat up, or letting it dip low at night (my house reaches around 14 without heating atm) and the timer starting the thermo in the morning?

Whats more cost effective? No smart meter so harder to track.

Help me please!

I have mine set to 18 and it clicks in when needed. I tend not to heat the upstairs (the downstairs is is open plan but you can shit the door to the hall and stairs). I do get chilly if working in my office but extra jumper!
I think this is just as economical if not more do than just having it come in a couple times a day - plus as i wfh I have at least the warm ground floor during the day.

@Saweetie how did you get on? Keen to hear your getting a survey and insulation installed soon? I see so many heating bill threads on MN and this is such a simple step to help....

Depends so much on how insulated your house is, an hour of heating in my house keeps the the temperature up for many hours so it would not be that costly to leave it on. In my old house unless the boiler was at full blast it was cold so it would be horrendously expensive to keep the house at 19 all day
