Signed off work - what is acceptable?

For the first time in my life, I've been signed off work for two weeks.

I know this is perhaps a silly Q, but is it acceptable / frowned upon to be out and about a bit?

For example, this morning I went to get soup ingredients when I was at the pharmacy. I'd like to take my dog out before it gets dark. I was meant to be going to the cinema with my son on Fri to see Napoleon.

The reason I'm off is a debilitating skin condition that has had a terrible flare up. It means I have trouble sleeping, body temperature is out of sorts, shivering and chills, very itchy and rash (feel like I have sunstroke a lot of the time). I'm not contagious or anything.

I think if you have been signed off with a skin condition it must be so severe that I think keeping your mental health well..healthy.. and getting out and about is a good idea. I wouldn't however book a holiday in the sun and post it on the Internet as that is not good optics.

You can go about normal life. You've been signed off not fit for work. Not ' not fit to live'
I was told that by an old manager when I was signed off for nearly a year. In fact i regularly socialised with her whilst signed off.

I don’t see any reason why you shouldn’t go out and about if you haven’t been confined to home by the GP. I would keep it low key as regards social media, but I’d certainly go out and do the activities that you’ve got planned.
