I’m having heart palpitations, shortness of breath, fainting and I’m severely anemic. I’ve had an ecg now waiting for bloods. ECG attached is it normal?

How are you today, OP?
Are you having your second bag?

CormorantStrikesBack · 24/11/2023 10:14

Glad you’re feeling better already @katystar you’ll feel like a new woman after the second bag

katystar · 24/11/2023 12:16

Second bag is nearly finished, I’m just really bored.

I am no expert but can see where you were having palpitations on the ecg. That is probably why it was abnormal. The palpitations are a symptom of your shockingly low iron levels. (You didn’t have enough oxygen in your system as a result.) You must have been feeling rotten for a while!

Do they know why your levels got so low?

Re the ecg. They are programmed to make their own diagnosis but are often wrong and 'over diagnose' for legal reasons (it's often American software) so don't be too worried about it saying abnormal and the other bits. I look at ecgs everyday for my job and the machine diagnosis is often wrong.

It's sinus rhythm with no sign of arrhythmia on there. Palpitations are very common symptom of anaemia as your heart is working harder to get oxygen around your body. You can get other abnormalities as well for the same reason such as t wave inversion which you have in leads v2 and v3. I wont personally make a diagnosis on it as a stand alone ecg in n someone I'm not personally seeing as it's very much about the context and lead position can also make a difference. A repeat ecg would be sensible to see if it is the same once your hb level is better.

Glad you are getting a blood transfusion and I hope you're feeling better soon and can get it looked into soon to see why you are so anaemic x
