Taking DD to a nice big Dunelm this w/e - what do we get?

I didn't realize we have one quite near us (I clearly need to get out more), have ordered odd bits and bobs online in the past. DD 12 is unusually excited, I think she's seen a lovely Christmas ad and I'm looking forward to some much needed bonding time with her.
I said we can get a few Christmas bits and I'm after some unscented tea lights.
What else is good?
Thank you.

Sooo much! I always find that it’s best not to think about what you want. Let them show you what you want.

They have interior door mats with Christmas designs on for £3 and they’re washable so can be used for a good few years before they fall apart. The coir external mats are only a few pounds more. They’re doing charger plates for £1.20 in gold, silver, red and a dark green. They usually have curtains on offer in our branch. And have a look at their haberdashery department. They’ve also got lots of snuggly budget Oodie things. Obviously not the same quality but a lot cheaper. If you have any young children to buy for, they have Christmas bath toys for £5 and large Christmas themed rubber ducks for £2.50. And our branch has a cafe, so you can stop for a cup of tea.

Ooh, sounds lovely, thank you.
I fancy gold charger plates!

I've just bought a lampshade for my (adult) daughter's Christmas present. I recently bought a oodie type of thing to wear after swimming, new bedding and some napkin rings, as well as some Christmas tree decorations. I like Dunelm.

Thank you! So you rate their bedding than?
DD and I are suckers for really soft duvet covers/sheets, I like egyptian cotton, she's a bamboo fan.

Their towels are good, and I've never actually bought bedding from there but they have a large selection.

Last time I went I got two of those collapsible laundry baskets.

Have a lovely time with your Dd (think most branches have a cafe).

Towels, that's a good one thanks!
What's nice in the café?

What's nice in the café?

I had a decent cappuccino and a millionaires shortbread thing in the cafe which was nice

I like the kitchenware, dining ware and the and the storage solutions they offer

If you or you're dd is in to crafts then there's a good selection of things

Dunelm is one of those places where you go for one specific thing and end up spending £100 on loads of stuff you didn't know you needed and then forgetting the one thing you went in for.

Onand · 23/11/2023 14:15

Do Homesense instead- far better value and much much better designs. Dunelm is overpriced and full of old fashioned tat in my opinion, it’s like TJ Hughes on steroids. Plus they’re usually cavernous and freezing.

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 23/11/2023 14:29

Crafts, that's a good one! We both love it.

I don't think we have a Homesense near us.

Teddy bear fleece throws.
We got Dd some nice Duvet sets 100% cotton, they are lovely with vibrant colours and were something like £12.99 a set and then £6.99 for a matching cotton bottom sheet.
I end up in the kitchen section for all sort s of things I didn't know I needed.

Mischance · 23/11/2023 14:47

A headache?!

ihaveayod · 23/11/2023 14:48

I haven't got a local Dunelm so I order online but I really like their bedding. Their fitted sheets come in different depths so if you have deep mattresses they fit lovely.

"A headache?!"

😅

Still better than IKEA, right?
Thank you all!

Seconding a teddy bear throw. Recently bought a 2m x 2m one for £20 - it's so soft!!

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 23/11/2023 16:41

Thank you everyone! I'm weirdly excited now.
