Hi all, sorry for the long rant I am really hoping to get some positive I am 35weeks with restricted growth at 34+4 with baby weighing 2kg and gone to 8th centile from 18th. It’s my 4th child and my 1st one was restricted growth at 29weeks but somehow with monitoring we managed to go to 37 weeks n was induced , she had low birth weight but now perfectly healthy she is 11years old now n in high school. My second one was ok but hey had to break waters at 41weeks n a quick delivery , my 3rd one measured quite small at the very end but was born 6lbs at 40weeks as water broke at home n labour was 1hour in total. All are doing fine . Me n husband r short n very petite people so have small kids.anyways doctors are suggesting the same thing as 1st daughter that either we can a c section or can do induction after looking at the next scan with is on 29november at 36+4days. The thing is this time I don’t want to be induced or have c section either , I want nature to take its course and want to wait till so is there anyone who had same situation and refused an induction etc n have an positive experience I mean the baby was fine n went into natural labour etc? Plz help as I can’t stop overthinking. Will give update once scan is done on 29th. Although I have monitoring and Dopplers scan tomorrow as well. Thank you

Slightly different scenario, but we were under care for suspected IUGR. This was based on the fact that DS's head was measuring small.

I had SO MANY scans, it was ridiculous. DS had been head down since about 20 weeks and didn't budge from that point onwards. His legs and tummy always measured just fine.

ANYWAY, one consultant wanted to induce me at 37 weeks, based on a very poor scan where he was wiggling too much for them to get decent measurements. Having been scanned every 2 weeks from about 24 weeks, I was not personally concerned by his growth. I declined induction at 37 weeks, said I would reconsider at my 39 week scan (this happened around my 35 week scan).

The consultant I saw that week (it was always a different one) was an absolute cow and told me that my baby would "probably be stillborn" if I refused. I ended up making a complaint about her, but I digress.

I went into labour the day before my 39 week scan. It lasted overnight and I even made a joke that I had missed my scan appointment. DS was born happy and healthy at just over 9lbs.

I would say that you know your body best, and this isn't your first child so if you make small babies then you make small babies. As long as the doppler/fluid checks are ok and movements are still good, then I would not be accepting induction, especially not before 37 weeks. I would gather as much info as you can about your previous births etc so that you can have a reasoned, rational conversation with your healthcare professional. If your partner can be there to support you (or someone else) then I would certainly recommend they be there.

hi Thanku soooo much for the reply at I got someone who had slightly similar situation as me. My baby’s head is really down there n fixed since about 25weeks n is measuring small as they said it’s hard for them to get head measurement as it’s quite down there. M petrified that my consultant is gonna bash me with some strong comments n suggestions the one like urs gave u. I have Dopplers n fluid checks tomorrow n gosh m so tired of these repeated growth scans n hours of waiting to be rehired again n again. But I strongly intend to refuse induction till at least 39weeks. Will keep u updated n congratulations on ur little one. Lots of luv n prayers for u thank you .
