London shopping service? Is this a thing? Can you pay someone to go to a shop on London for you? (Christmas)

DD is obsessed with an American rapper and wants his merch for Christmas.

Only his American website ships and the reviews say delivery to Europe is very unpredictable.

He has recently opened a shop in central London but I'm in the NW and can't afford the train tickets ontop of the merch and don't have the time to travel there at all. I don't know anyone in London.
All the places like ebay/vinted have no feedback for sellers or the prices are tripled!

Is there such thing as paying a person via PayPal for the goods plus postage and a finders fee or something? Does anyone know of a reputable service for this? Don't want to get scammed obviously.

Oh dear 😩

I did manage to get her some TTCxConverse shoes from vinted, BN. And they came and are genuine so I might have to just keep checking and then get her some generic bits from etsy like posters and badges, fan made stuff.

Someone said the Tshirts instore are about £50 which is insane really

Yeah looking at the online store it's fierce expensive, obviously not good at retail business or bothered about making money if offereing a shit show like this. What about messaging your man on twitter X ask him why he's sticking up videos of the opening of a new store and you can't even buy the overpriced stuff online or actually phone them, or maybe word it nicer than I have 🤣

Is it a pop up shop or a permanent shop?

Apologies, disregard, i saw your response

IIRC with task rabbit you pay for whatever the actual task costs (like the cost of the merchandise and postage/courier to get it to you) plus a service charge for the time and expenses of finding a person to go and do it for you. You pay through the site.

And yes, getting someone to videocall you or send pix of a short list of stuff could be part of the task.

I had a look on the USA online store and the T-Shirts start at 40 dollars and the shirts at around 100. The prices won't be that different in pounds.

I also noticed that most small sizes are sold out but I don't know what size you need?

The cost is pretty usual for band merchandise. My dc also like this artist and similar ones. We usually pay those prices for their merch.

I know what its like when your child desperately wants something. I once paid £250 to have a fluffy toy monkey sent over from New York...long story, but totally worth the money.

So. i can help if you need it, i know its difficult to trust a stranger, but paying by Paypal is good option - offer is there if you need it.

I hear you. I paid £36 for SLIME. Yes, SLIME. It was completely worth it (as a once off, never to be repeated, exercise). Grin

IKEA use TaskRabbit and they are great ( I work for IKEA) but I had NO idea they'd do this!

alltoomuchrightnow · 20/11/2023 14:49

they are completely reputable and start at around £40, get a quote without any obligation. I'm still amazed if they do personal shopping though!

Within reason, they will do any kind of errand

I haven't used them for shopping but they do list it as a service

I have used for the opposite - doing runs to the tip or charity shop when I have had too much to carry

If you're able to go that would be amazing!

How much would you be willing to pay for the time and expense OP?

erinaceus · 20/11/2023 15:57

I’m a Londoner, send a PM and we could see if we can work something out?

Thaks but it's all reproduction/counterfeit /fan made on etsy, she wants genuine merch.

I have a plan in place due to a lovely fellow mum 🤞😍
