Flucloxacillin and alcohol, anyone?

I'm on day five of flucloxacillin. I'm really fancying a g&t. Google tells me that it is ok to drink alcohol in moderation on flucloxacillin.
But hearing people's experiences would be good - have you been on this antibiotic and had a drink, with no adverse effect?
I know you can;t drink at all on metronidazole so it makes me wary with this one, but could murder a g&t right now.

However, depending on my health and why I might be in the tablets is more likely to impact on my decision whether to drink or not. So usually I’d avoid alcohol and try to be as healthy as I could to help my body recover from an infection. Not always - I do love a glass or two.

Nah you’re good. Keep it to just one or two mind as in large amounts it could decrease the effectiveness. The main reason people are warned off drinking when taking most antibiotics is that the antibiotic can make you feel sick, queasy or bloated and drinking on top of that can make you feel a little worse.

Enjoy your G&T

I drank on metronidazole once, long before I was a HCP.
It's one of the ones you really can't drink on.
And I've bitter experience of it.
Fluclox should be fine, enjoy!

There are some antibiotics which nearly always react badly with alcohol. Mostly (IME) those prescribed for dental issues, UTIs, and any with a 'Z' in the name. Most of the 'illin' ones are generally ok.

However, everyone is different and there are no guarantees

Well I am half way down my g&t with no bad effect so far, so all is good hopefully. It's been a bugger of a day and this little relaxer is much needed.

Do not skip a dose of your medication. It’s very important to take them as prescribed.

If you feel you need something for stress/anxiety, go speak to your GP again.
