Evil trees

Once again tree hating neighbours going on and on about my tree and a few leaves blowing around. I planted a slim horn beam that is tall but narrow and the majority of the leaves fall in my garden and a few go over the fence if the wind blows hard.
I'm also planting a flagpole cherry...grows straight up. No spreading branches.
I put the trees in as the house that backs onto mine can see straight into my house.
I was considering my neighbours when I anted them by not planting an enormous tree like an oak. Neither tree affects their sunlight.
They detest the trees more than death. They go on an on about them.
Both neighbours have artificial turf and no plants of their own. Its so depressing.
Why are people so angry about trees and wildlife. We need them.
So far I've just ignored them. I collect my leaves and compost them. They do wonders for my plants.
It seems to me that people more and more want to live In barren empty landscapes. I cant understand it.

Well no, I didn't know that because you didn't say that.

David Attenborough's voice (whispering): And here we can see a really fine example of the Egocentric Bias in all its glory.

No. Here we can see an example of ASD in all its glory. In the wild. An autistic person doesn't get the unsaid stuff. Who knew.

But you carry on.

Would you consider putting in some trees which don't drop their leaves, also there are lots of shrubs which are evergreen and have beautiful flowers/berries?

howtonavigate · 19/11/2023 20:24

@Mumblechum0 it's a tiny garden in a new build - it isn't big enough for a tree I don't think.

I dug up concrete to put the lawn in and I trailed an ivy that appeared over the fence but sure I"m Egocentric Bias in all it's glory.

I can't even get out into my back garden. I can't even see it because I'm too short to see it properly from the kitchen - I can't stand for long enough so I'm sitting down. I wouldn't see it. And there's moss and leaves at the back and front and the path is covered.

Dreary and depressing isn't it. Ignore your neighbours. It's frankly weird trying to make nature conform to ridiculous levels of tidiness.

It's got so bad, we have a small housing development going up in our village, and the council has insisted on putting in several trees for every house, and protecting them all with TPOs so they can't be cut down and the people who will buy the houses will know they will have leaves and shade and birds singing at 4am, before they buy the houses.
