Any SaLTs/teachers or similar on here who can advise on what I should wear for presentation and placements?

I'm a speech and language therapist student, and I have to dress 'professionally' for a university presentation, and I will start to have placements in January in schools and nurseries. I have no idea what to wear. I know that it's likely that I'll be sitting on the floor, bending down to children so I feel like I shouldn't be in a really restrictive outfit, and I feel like young children may not respond well to a stranger showing up dressed really smart in all black, for example.

I have a few smart blouses, and I'm going to buy some smart trousers, but it's the shoes I'm struggling with the most. Do you think a pair of Veja trainers would be appropriate to make it smart/casual? I was thinking something like this:

Or is that way off the mark? Would some kind of loafer or ballet flat be better? I can't walk in heels, and find most boots really uncomfortable.

For placements in school those would be fine in my opinion. That whole outfit actually would be ok.

Interestingly the local unis have started providing (poor quality thin) polo shirts for students on placement. Which will students seem to hate and don't look very smart.

Post COVID dress styles have changed to more casual and I can see why you find out hard to judge as very setting dependent. I had placements in schools where teachers were first names and very casual dresses, kids no uniform and others where they loving "business dress" and had 4 year olds in blazers.

For primary there is some sitting on floor etc that isn't in secondary. I reckon link would be fine for primary some secondaries ballet flats would be safer. I found dresses with leggings and ballet flats summer/boots winter to be safest for all settings.
