I am 43 and I want to learn to dance. Where… how?

I have never been to a lesson in my life and I am not sure how coordinated I am 😂.

I used to go to a lot of raves and clubs and really love the freedom of moving around although I feel I am just throwing myself around a lot 😂. I also watch a lot of dancing videos. My DP says that he has seen me dancing obviously and thinks I am a good dancer (I dance at home constantly) but I feel a bit self conscious.

I have never in my life had a hobby but I have always wished I had learnt dancing when I was younger.

Where do you even start learning to dance as an adult can anyone give advice?

What sort of dancing do you want to learn? Around me there are adult classes for latin and ballroom, salsa, seroc, Argentine tango, swing jive. If you’re in a big city then there are probably lots more.

Salsa and seroc are good in that you definitely don’t need a partner, the others you don’t necessarily either but you may not get to dance with a partner so much (ime).

I'm 44 so only got only one year on you. Does depend what style you like. If you're not sure then freestyle / improvisation class is good. I'm running a healing dance class next month mums and babies (not sure if thats helpful to you?)- freestyle healing dance kind of urban styles, welcome to join the ladies - Crystal Palace area. But if you want to go without kids then try Siobhan Davis studio morning classes. Different styles each time, its near Elephant and Castle. I go sometimes after drop off no kids. Cater for all levels, no pressure classes there. Want something more upbeat Hub Studio is great friendly class loads of styles to choose from, they have beginner classes too - they call it foundations. Easy to get there on overground from south London. I struggle to go to the classes I want because they are after 4pm when I have kids. But love to hear this.. please ..Go for it! 40s rock!
Let us know where you choose in the end.
