You feel like a warm dessert, but only If you can make it in under 5 minutes. What do you make?

Banana custard

Decent dark chocolate in the microwave until melted, quickly stir in some double cream to make a thick warm chocolate sauce, dollop some vanilla icecream in the same bowl, eat the lot.

I may do this once dc2 finally falls asleep.

OOoo thanks, top tip!

Griddle scones with jam, honey or syrup. 1 cup SR flour, 1/4 cup caster sugar, 1/4 cup grated suet (beef or veg, doesn't matter), pinch salt, enough milk to make into a dough. Flatten into a round about 2cm thick, cut into four quarters, and dry-fry until golden and puffy. Can easily be done on a camping stove or campfire too.

Bananas Foster...
Into a small saucepan, on low heat, put a knob or two of butter, add some soft brown sugar, stir. As it bubbles, add a sliced banana, stir to coat the banana in the sauce. Add a splash of rum or brandy. Spoon the hot sauce over vanilla ice cream.

How is everyone making their mug cakes?!

Because every time I've attempted one it's either really dry or uncooked in the middle and dry/burnt on top.

Sgtmajormummy · 19/11/2023 13:38

With only five minutes it would be a choice of
Apricot/Nutella/lemon curd pancake.
Boxed custard or chocolate pudding warmed in the microwave and biscuits to dip in.
Or something frozen cooked in the airfryer. I bit like cheating because mine takes 5 minutes to heat up + 5 mins cooking. Lidl’s Portuguese tarts are good. Or PPs’ mince pies.

TroysMammy · 19/11/2023 13:45

Syrup or jam pudding in the microwave.

2oz, sr flour, 2oz caster sugar, 2 oz marg, 1 egg, 2tbsp milk all whizzed up with electric beaters, syrup or jam bottom of plastic lidded pudding bowl, mix on top, microwave high 3 mins.

Whilst cooking, boil kettle make instant custard.

Mug crumbles are easier and nicer than mug cakes.

Floralnomad · 19/11/2023 13:48

Nothing wrong with a home made microwave sponge pudding and custard .

SeaToSki · 19/11/2023 13:50

Cut up an apple, add some raisins and a splash of something liquid and sweet (alcoholic if you want) a sprinkle of brown sugar and some cinnamon. Microwave until its the consistency you want. Add cream, ice cream or custard depending upon what you have (or condensed milk)

I make Felicity Cloake's banana bread in a brownie tin, cut it into 16 squares and freeze it. An individual square takes about a minute on full power in the microwave to be a delicious squidgy hot pudding. Custard, cream or ice cream all go nicely with it.

How to cook perfect banana bread

What’s the secret of this johnny-come-lately’s success, and do you prefer the moist, squidgy sort, or the light, fluffy variety?
