Bed rail for a cot bed?

Can anyone recommend a bed rail for a cot bed? We bought this double sided one from Argos as all the reviews said it was perfect for cot beds or single beds and it seemed fine when I put it on but I’m now sat awake for the night as when DS rolls against the side it’s opening up a gap big enough that his face can fit down between the rail and the edge of the mattress. It’s obviously not actually the correct fit for his bed 😔

Am I better just forgetting the cot bed and going out and getting him a single bed in the morning?

Have you put it on your bed so you can see that it works better on a mattress?

I didn't go with sides mostly cos of money so I put quilts and blankets on the floor to soften any falls. Ds did fall out with a clunk first night - didn't even wake up! After that we'd often find him on the floor in the morning- think he just used to sort of slide off the bed cos he's a monumental fidget! Dd never felt out. Try without if you feel brave enough

I just rolled up a towel and put under bottom sheet so he has a kind of lip of one side. And folded a duvet on floor in case. Tbh he only fell out a few times the first week and then didn’t after, it’s close enough to floor that it isn’t a big drop

We use a pool noodle under the sheet.

@DustyLee123 I haven’t. It doesn’t fit anything bigger than a single and we have a super king unfortunately so nowhere to try it.

@Angelik I had considered it but he falls out just sitting on the thing, nevermind the way he throws himself around in the night 😂 I know I’d be in at him every 20 mins!

@Caspianberg @OhWifey I had seen quite a few suggesting this so I had tried it briefly while making the bed and DS was not impressed at all at there being “lumps everywhere” 😂

I kept the cot bed against the wall. Only one side to fall out of then

Cot against the wall and use a single duvet fitted sideways and tucked under the mattress on both sides. They can't roll out as their body weight is pressing down on the folded under bit. It forms a bed-sized sleeping bag. I found giving them a pillow did a pretty good job of anchoring their heads too. Chuck a few big cushions or extra pillows on the floor next to the bed if you're still worried, or better still, remove the frame for now and have the mattress on the floor until DC gets the hang of it.
