Having a shop on Etsy

Does anyone have experience of having an Etsy shop?

if so what do you do to make it successful?

how much have you earned on there? Is everything hand made?

is it easy to dedicate time to ?

I have an idea to make wedding centre pieces/ decorations but bit scared and nervous to start this off and make a go of it.

I have a shop on Etsy, it’s not overly successful but it’s not my full time job so that doesn’t bother me.

Etsy is easy enough to use so once you’ve tried setting up a few listings you’ll soon find yourself In the hang of it.

Best thing to do is scout out the competition and see what people are doing similar to your idea. Etsy will always have people who can make the same thing cheaper and faster just maybe not the same standard as you. I do find that people expect things quite quickly when purchasing from Etsy compared to not on the high street

I find a very short processing time and cheaper postage fees help boost sales but you’ll need to work out your costs and see how much it will cost you to get materials, time to make product, packaging, posting and if you use any electricity etc then work out how much you could sell it to a customer for.

There is Etsy marketing which can help promote your page and you pay fees for. I find using social media much better and obviously cheaper. I also run sales on the run up to holidays etc to help motivate customers.

On every sale you make, Etsy will take a small cut of the sale.
