Is endless patience a trait of dyspraxia?

We are a completely ND household but with different conditions. And a fair few of the dc's friends are ND too. Anyway, I was noticing the other day that all 3 of the people with dyspraxia in my family and friends have a lot of patience. Which is lovely but I was wondering if this was random coincidence or a trait. Or is it just that I spend my life with autistic people who have no patience at all?

completely and utterly coincidental

My dyspraxic partner has the patience of a toddler, so coincidence imo!

My dyspraxic dd has no patience at all.

My SN daughter was described as almost certainly dyspraxic by the first educational psychologist she saw. Daughter has always had the patience of a saint and doesn’t really ever show anger. To the point where its a bit odd. You would have to know her extremely well be even pick up when she is pissed off which is rarely.

Never had the teenage door slamming stage her sister went through 😂

Basically, to get on in life with dyspraxia, you need to have endless patience, otherwise you would be permanently upset

My DH almost certainly has dyspraxia, although nothing official, and he is incredibly patient. Also very laid back.

My autistic dd has the patience of a saint as do I so think it's probably a coincidence.

SaffronSpice · 17/11/2023 17:20

My dc is definitely not patient 😂

Chipsatsunset · 17/11/2023 17:23

Well I’ve not heard of this but I am incredibly patient and also have dyspraxia. My DBs are though too and they don’t have it, so possibly just a personality trait.

OchonAgusOchonOh · 17/11/2023 17:24

I have dyspraxia and am not at all patient.

CaptainCallisto · 17/11/2023 17:32

DC2 is dyspraxic and is probably the least patient person I know!

Same!

I'm dyspraxic and have no patience at all.

elliejjtiny · 17/11/2023 17:41

Thank you everyone. I'm dyspraxic and dh has Aspergers syndrome. I find we compliment each other quite well as I'm good at being patient, which dh isn't and dh is good in an emergency while I go to pieces. When we have had to take the dc to a and e, dh takes them in and stays calm during the emergency bit and then we swap over when the crisis is over and I sit with them for the boring bits.

I'm pretty sure I have dyspraxia and I'm pretty calm and patient.

Maybe it's because I'm so used to spilling stuff/accidentally walking into people I can never get annoyed at people doing minor annoying things/breaking stuff etc.

I think it is just coincidence/personality though.
