Best way forward with head teacher

I just need the head teadher of dds school to sign a form from the local authority so dd can go on the waiting list for another setting.

It’s been 5 weeks. I’ve phoned the school, I am told to email my request to the main admin email and it will be passed on to the head. Emails sent and followed up. The head, or the school in general, never, ever responds to emails anyway, not once in 3 years have I ever received a response to anything. Yes, address is correct, I’ve had to query things before at parents evenings and they had received them, they just didn’t respond to me.

I’ve gone in and asked if I could leave the form for him to sign for me to pick up at a later date. After telling me that wasn’t possible, they finally said they would try. Popped in two weeks later, the form was still there, unsigned. Told her again to email.

Poor communication is just one of the reasons I want to put dd on the waiting list for this other school.

I don’t know where to go from here. I call them, I am told to email. I pop in, I am told to email. They don’t respond.

It’s a school in a terrible area, so the head and staff are never seen at drop off and pick up as parents just pick fights with them, so catching the head in the playground isn’t an option. You have to communicate with reception though an intercom outside, no one will speak face to face with parents.

I just need one signature on a form so I can send it back to the LA, it’s very frustrating!

Contact the governors

Yes that’s the next step. It’s an academy so will
contact them. It’s honestly ridiculous, I didn’t expect to get 5 weeks in with no joy!

Although, I did speak to a former school parent. She did manage to get in touch with the head for the same thing. Dragged his feet and then refused to sign as he didn’t think it would be in her child’s best interest to move schools. Obviously, he had to sign it as it’s in no way up to him and the child did get a place elsewhere.

Can’t get into reception! It’s all via intercom outside and they will only let you in if they deem it important enough. This hasn’t met the threshold for me to actually be allowed inside the building!

(I do understand. When say terrible area, it’s a place where school staff are threatened with weapons. So I get why they don’t want anyone in the building and why staff stay hidden. All the schools here the same. I just want a form signed so I can try and get her on a waiting list to move from this environment).
