Is tiffanys still considered nice jewellery - I'm talking the more retaily stuff...

Trying to buy a necklace for MIL and don't wear jewellery myself, want to get something nice and seen a nice necklace in Tiffany's in the lower end of the scale for them £££ wise
but not sure if it's 'fancy enough' for someone that has some really nice pieces of jewellery. Any suggestions welcome!

Well just my nonsense view but I think it’s naff now.

I would avoid it to be safe. You may find something nice at Monica Vinader that is also reasonably priced.

Lastqueenofscotland2 · 17/11/2023 08:52

I think it’s very expensive for what it is. You could probably find a similar product in terms of carat for about a third of the cost at an independent.
I think a lot of their cheaper ranges are really naff too… but that’s just personal preference.

It depends. Some pieces are lovely. Does the one you are looking at for into her aesthetic?

I love Georg Jensen. Beautiful shapes in silver. And if you look at eBay you will see that it keeps its value.

I wouldn’t buy an expensive piece of jewellery for anyone unless they’d expressly said they want x one. I wouldn’t really want someone else to buy for me either.

Try Mejuri, Missoma, Arum & Grey, Astrid & Miyu.

Ooo see I knew I had no idea! @WarmWinterSun Monica Vinader came up in my searches actually. Will have to take another look

What a lovely idea to buy something like this for your mother in law. I have a couple of silver pieces that I’ve had maybe 20 years in designs that are still available. I think the pieces that have the Tiffany branding as part of the design are probably more sought after by women under 30, but other pieces like the X necklace I have are much more timeless.

Tiffany's is indeed very beautiful, but it's expensive. You might find similar jewelry at www.beautifulelf.com.
