Shelter Christmas Ad - what can be done?

I saw the Shelter Christmas Ad today and it just made me cry and want the world to change. I've donated, signed their petitions and signed up for their newsletters but what can I do that will actually make a difference?
I haven't got lots of money to donate but I feel angry that homelessness is still affecting so many people. And so many kids. homelessness really needs up be a priority for our political parties. But what can I actually do to make a difference?

Write to your MP every time you see a proposed policy change that makes the least well off in our society poorer.

Write asking for action to accelerate the act that bans section 21 notices.

Write to the housing minister asking why not enough houses are being built to service the population.

Get involved in any local community groups that aim to better any of these areas.

In short, get political.

Campaign against every nimbyist complaint about new housing developments.

Hold local government officials to account for why they aren't doing enough to create more affordable and social housing

Donate to Womens Aid too - a lot of the homeless children are in that situation due to fleeing domestic violence.

Write to your MP to demand more regulatory powers to stop developers from holding on to prime development land and not developing it because they make more profit by restricting supply.

Also demand improvements in freedom of movement from other countries - since brexit it has become so much more difficult to recruit sufficiently skilled workforce for all the building that needs doing.

Absolutely agree OP it's not just those that are living in shop doorways it's the hidden homeless too single parents, war veterans, DV victims, older people often forced to stay in temporary accommodation that is not fit for purpose, can't imagine being a single mum in somewhere you can't call home, having to live alongside drug addicts, antisocial behaviour no accses to cooking facilities, for a country that is supposed to be the 5th biggest economy in the world it really does make you sad that so many are in this terrible position

The single biggest global issue is the commodification of housing. It used to be a utility, now it's an investment. It's ruined housing.

Difficult for one person to change that, but writing to your MPs and letting them know that housing is a priority is important.

Stop these awful property programs. Seems so tasteless

Thank you all. I used to be active politically back in the early 90s (pre Blair) and looked to see what I could do with the Labour Party but it's all still door knocking and leafleting. Surely things have moved on and there are better ways of making changes?!
I can write letters but I feel like I should be matching and protesting.
