Where to put house deposit?

I've just realised our house deposit is higher than the 85k limit, I know it's unlikey my bank is due to go bust, but it's also in a very low interest account. We'll need it to complete on our house purchase in approx 6 months time.

We're maxed out on Premium Bonds otherwise would have stuck it in there.

Open up a marcus account online. its very good interest rate, think 5% at the moment, and its very easy to withdraw money with no delay.

Shawbrook and paragon also decent interest and pay it monthly, easy access and quick to set up.

NS&I has no limit of the maximum protected amount and are very secure. It's government backed. Not the highest rates, but not a rip-off either. They're the outfit that does Premium Bonds.

If you post this to Money you should get some good advice.

Split your money into different Easy Access savings accounts. Look on MSE for the highest paying Easy Access no penalty savings account. At about 5% the interest is worth having so don’t let it languish in low interest!

Just check that the banks are not owned by the same institution.

This. Each institution will honour the 85k limit so find a couple of banks which are not part of the same banking group and open a couple of savings accounts. Most are paying decent interest rates at the moment.

Thanks all, I've found a decent easy access that pays a bouns rate if no withdrawals made each month.
