Had to share with someone!! Drugs related....

So we've been in our house 4 years now, have a cellar that's pretty unusable really. Noticed a weird smell the last couple of weeks coming from there and we know the neighbours had a rat problem in theirs. So off I go crawling through the cellar looking for the source of the smell. Now imagine my surprise when I find 700g of cocaine in my cellar!!! I just had to tell somebody!
For those wondering I also found a dead rat, so mission accomplished 😅

Have never had to drop anything off at the police station so don't know the standard protocol, but I would still feel hella anxious carrying around teens of thousands of pounds worth of drugs. Not just because of police.

I feel bait when I walk around with cash in my purse though, as though everyone secretly knows.

Barefootinthecarpark · 16/11/2023 13:20

Partner found a small amount of coke while out walking the dog. Can confirm that police asking you to drop it off is definitely a thing!

They asked you to drop it off?!

That's the bit that's sticking with me for some reason. What if you got stopped on your way, while carrying nearly a kilo of class A drugs? "Oh yes officer, I found it in the cellar and was taking it to the police, like a good citizen"

Yep,.originally arranged to collect but called about 10mins after the agreed time to see if I could drop off 🤣 they didn't explain why but there was major knife incident in my town going on at the time so i don't know if maybe all resources went to there instead.
The risk if pulled over was the first thing I asked but she said it would be fine as it had now been logged with 101 and documented I'd been asked to drop it so that was fine with me if it meant it was out my house and nowhere near my kids

Was it good quality? Asking for a friend.

🤣🤣 I highly doubt it after sitting in a damp cellar for at least 4 years. They did confirm it was uncut though

Do you know whether the dealer went to prison? I'd be worried about him coming back!

Possumzilla91 · 16/11/2023 13:23

Oh gosh hadn't even crossed my mind about it being in the house with kids. Eeep.

It's a shame they left the drugs lying around instead of the cash value 😹

All we know from the shop keeper is the previous owner was a dealer, his partner a primary school teacher and they did a flit in the night apparantly 🤷🏻‍♀️ we still get some post for them so did search fb for their names. They appear to be living freely, not sure if he was ever arrested when they first disappeared though

Also surprised they asked you to take it! My DF found some bullets in a relatives house when we were clearing it out after they died (he was in the Army during WWII). Not sure if they were live or not, he called the police and they sent a firearms officer out to collect them. He confirmed some of them were empty but others were heavy enough to seem like live rounds.

I too would have been worried about carrying them around if we'd been asked to drop them in!

Agree it's a shame they didn't leave the cash lying there instead! I found an article from 2020 that said 30kg was worth about £2.5m, so 734g = £61k!

Yeah I really didn't want it in the house with them about so would rather do the 5 min drive to the station than hold on to it until someone was available to fetch.
Knowing my luck, any cash would be chewed into tiny little pieces by the rats 🙄

I found a load of number plates in a car park, called the non emergency line and they told me to drop them off. I said absolutely no way, what I got stopped or was in an accident and had a load of fake or stolen plates in the car.

Are you not even remotely concerned that someone will be coming back for the drugs rather than all the !!!!

The OP must be on a wind up. Where do people get the time? :)

Oh wow what a find! I'd rather have found that than a package of damp coke.

The station is only 5 mins away so I wasn't really bothered to be honest. I'd rather do that than keep hold of it with kids in the house. I find it odd they didn't want to come out and take a nosey in the rest of the cellar though. Maybe now they've tested and confirmed it as coke they will be in touch at some point wanting to come and take a further look 🤔

Yep it's worth a fair bit! I do wonder if the previous occupier has ever realised he left it behind

Cocaine doesn't have an odour....so I'm told

If it wasn't logged and it was a long journey there is no way I would have taken it. I didn't mind 5 mins drive though once i knew I'd be fine if pulled over, it was that or keep it here with my kids around until someone did bother to show up.

Tbh if I found it when we first moved in I would be crapping myself that could happen. The police did put it on urgent response when I first told them as they assumed we'd just moved in and had the exact same worry. We've been here 4 years now though and I'd imagine any dealer would know it would be worthless after sitting in a damp cellar partially open all that time so I'm not worried about someone coming for it after all that time

Absolutely not a winde up. I was just as surprised they asked me to but if that got it out my house quicker then so be it. Just because the police methods are questionable that doesn't mean I'm sat here passing my time with an imaginary story to a bunch of strangers 🙄

Who knows, maybe. The packaging looked a bit nibbled. Perhaps I should have left it their for future rats to enjoy their final moments in life

I wouldn't, not after watching Cocaine Bear! Brilliant film but nobody needs cocaine rats!

You have to smell it really hard

TenderDandelions · 16/11/2023 16:48

Someone on my local FB page found a few discarded number plates in their garden this morning, complete with sticky tape on the other side where they'd obviously been stuck to another vehicle. We're not too far from the London ULEZ zone and apparently it's become quite common to pinch the numberplates from a compliant car!

She phoned the police to report it and they told her they wouldn't be able to do anything with them and she should throw them in her bin!
