How to choose a STEM kit for my kid?

Hi all,
I have recently posted in Education about how I can nurture STEM interest in my 6 years old child. I am an engineer myself, and so far I have taught him basics of science, plants, electronics (very simple things), we watched documentaries and videos on various different things. His mainly interested in space, he wants to be an astronaut ... like every other child out there I guess 😂

Based on the replies I got, many many people suggest STEM kits, but I have never bought any, and don't know where to start. Money is also a little tight right now and I am afraid I just waste money and he won't really engaged. So, what to consider? Anything about space? Activities around space or something like that?

Christmas is coming so maybe even something slightly more expensive will do? 😂

Galt Science Labs are pretty good & there is a Space one:

Also check out the Whizz Pop Bang magazine, it covers lots of subjects but is really useful for topic work at school - they've definitely done issues on space & you can buy back issues.

Lots of science kits for little kids don't have many things you can't get in a regular kitchen. there will be things like mini lab googles to look nice but they don't do much.

if you are on a budget, a magazine or book might be better.

Okido magazine is pretty good https://www.okido.com/ I think the Wellcome Trust sponsor it.
