How was your child after the chicken pox vaccine

Just that really. Did they get any fevers etc. I can only find appts on a Sunday and don't want to risk her being sent home from nursery for being ill on the Monday

My child was absolutely fine. He had fevers after most vaccinations but not chicken pox.

Daffodilsandbees · 14/11/2023 19:57

My 2 year old had it with no side effects. Maybe a little grumpy the following day but nothing memorable

pbdr · 14/11/2023 19:58

Totally fine, no side effects at all with the first dose. Unfortunately she got chickenpox 3 months later before she could have the second dose :(

No side effects whatsoever

Thanks all. I'll get her booked in then!

Mine was fine too - but even if your child does get a bit ill the next day, the time off nursery will be so much less than if she actually gets chicken pox!

TempsPerdu · 15/11/2023 09:19

DD was absolutely fine - no side effects at all. We’re so pleased we had it done.

wishIwasonholiday10 · 15/11/2023 09:22

Also no side effects here (had it at 13 and 14 months). Slightly annoyed that it will probably be offered free on the NHS soon but it was probably still worth paying as there have been several outbreaks at nursery recently.

AgaMM · 15/11/2023 09:22

Completely fine!

SarahLKelp · 15/11/2023 09:23

Mine was absolutely fine. Age 1 at the time of vaccine no side effects. She had lots of side effects to the usual ones given at the GP as well.

Newuser75 · 15/11/2023 09:26

Totally fine. No issues whatever.

SoGladofYou · 15/11/2023 10:03

DC was absolutely fine. Just bear in mine that it is actually two jabs, given about a month apart.

Summermeadowflowers · 15/11/2023 10:05

Ds was fine too. We dithered about having it done as a lot of sources seemed to indicate it was better to catch it in the ‘wild’ so to speak, but didn’t want baby DD to get it (or have them both unwell at the same time!)

MrsSkylerWhite · 15/11/2023 10:06

So pleased this is being rolled out. Wish it had been when ours were young.

smileyplant · 15/11/2023 10:18

Totally fine - no side affects at all

oh it wouldn't stop me doing it. I'd just search around for somewhere that did it on a Friday or saturday instead

Yeah - my thinking is: the sooner the better! We actually got notified of a case of chicken pox in DS's nursery the week after he'd had his second dose!

TrashedSofa · 15/11/2023 10:51

Totally fine.

MikeWozniaksMohawk · 15/11/2023 10:52

No side effects here either

MotherWol · 15/11/2023 11:00

My DD was absolutely fine after hers, no noticeable side effects. We decided to get it because she'd got to 3.5 without having had chickenpox, and it gets harder to prevent scratching/scarring as they get older. I was really glad we did because by the time she was 4, Covid hit and the exposure to everyday bugs really dropped at that point! I'll almost certainly get the jab for my youngest as well.
