Cold water tank replacement. Sorry, dull as shit but I don't know who to ask!

Hi all. A few years ago I had a burst pipe in the loft causing shedloads of damage. Since then I've been a bit uncomfortable about having a tank full of water in the loft!
The thing is I don't have any gas at the house, so no central heating or combo boiler possible. I have a hot water tank downstairs for hot water and electric storage heaters for heating.

My question is can I get rid of the cold water tank and replace it with something else that's not in my loft?

Not really. Cold tank is usually placed above the living area to provide pressure, and prevent the main struggling to supply adequately for large draw events like flushing the loo, showering, and so on.

Kitchen cold supply is usually straight from the main because that water is ingested more frequently due to use in cooking etc, but the storage tank is there to provide quantity that the main will struggle to supply.

We don’t have a cold water storage tank. I think it would involve connecting all cold taps to the mains supply so some replumbing and maybe different pipe work/taps. Although I could be talking out of my hat as I am in no way an expert. Would be worth asking a plumber. Good luck.

Ah cross post. I hadn’t thought about water pressure.

Thank you for replying. My house has all taps and the loo on the ground floor, so no upstairs bathroom. I don't know if this would make it easier.

@LadyBird1973 could it be worth a chat with these people?

Thank you for the link. I'll look into that tomorrow.
Just been having a chat to my dad and he wonders whether I could bypass the loft tank and get water from the mains to go into the downstairs tank directly. As it is, it's going to the loft, then draining down to the downstairs tank.
